Hey everyone, I'm new to both here and the hobby, started with my first squad a few months ago and have been doing it on and off since. Just finished painting this first squad, so thought i'd post it up here for you to C&C. The pictures are a bit big, sorry if this is a problem to some. First up is the seargent, flamer and vox. close up of the seargent. lighting kinda killed his highlights. will get used to photoing minis. Flamer (yes i know i need to drill it, it's on my list of things to do. Vox. and a group photo, sorry about shadow. close up of trooper Thanks for looking. i'll put up some of my WIP's next time.

Here's some of my WIP's, very hard to photo matt back and show detail, any tip on photo-ing basecoated minis so you can see detail much appreciated. WIP 2nd sergeant WIP Weapons teams Converted the second member to have two lasguns using a set of arms and triggers intended for a lascannon and 2 of the lasguns from the kits. worked out ok, but gonna be a nightmare to get to his face to paint it. WIP Company Commander. Really sould like some C&C on this guy.

I am a 'newbie' as well, but I must say I love the Commander, and my only real criticism is the warped vox array antenna.

Love the commander and mortar team. however i think you need more basing on the guardsmen. If your going to have trouble getting to something eg. Your guys face, then I find it easier to paint it on the sprue.

Hey,
Yeah the bent vox antenna was intentional. thought it gave the look of being in the field for a long time.
As for the sparce bases, they arn't all bare as the picture implies, there is lines in the asphalt on some and rubble on others. next squad i'm working on at the moment have more in the way of pipework and industrial bits on their bases to tie in with the board i'm planning. will pop some pictures up later or over the weekend of both my second squad WIP and my terrain bits.
thanks for looking.

I love the comander did you just cut off the top of a sentinal. kinda, I made up the sentinal in the BF as a scout so had all the top still on the sprue. cut and sanded it a bit so it sat flat on the base. glad you guys like it, wasn't sure as it had to go on a 40mm base that it would work or whether the commander would look a bit lost on something that big.

Sorry there's been no updates, been fairly busy at work, and the odd time i have found to sit at my desk at home i've been modelling my GGII entry or doing colour test models for my skull pass set.
Planning on a good session at the weekend, so hopefully i'll be able to pop up some WIP's and get some of my WIP terrain in the sub forum for you too C&C.

Hey all, There's been a few reasons for no updates here, Mainly as i've not made much in the way of painting progress, but other things like the GG competitions have drawn my attention away from my army. so i've finished assembly of the core (not pictured here are 2 other Ogryns, Yarrick, a FW techpriest (thanks mom) and another squad which are going to be Vets) and here's a couple more shots of things i havn't finished, but it's something to keep you posted. Sentinal (going to be built as a scout, but will be magnetising all weapon options so i can have a choise) The last of the HW teams and a sneak peak at the very early WIP CCS colour seargent. Images not up to my usual as i'm tired and my phone was lots closer. Will hopefully be hitting these hard over the next few weekends, and even considering taking a few to work and basecoating them during my lunch hours. Planning on having them done in the next couple of months.

I really like how you paint the faces, especially of the first sergeant. I also love the commander conversion!

I think you're very brave painting all these models in such a way, I've only ever managed to do 10 at a time, and find that mass of unpainted minis quite intimidating!
What you have done is looking great so far, so I wish you luck in keeping up the momentum!

Cloth done on the second squad, but no picture as we all know what grey fatigues look like, However... Here's the WIP company commander, likewise only done his cloth and cloth mounted detailing. Shoddy phone camera as i'll save the good quality pictures for when things are complete. Hope to have the second squad finished sunday will post it if i finish it.

Well, progress on the squad ... isn't. but ... He's pretty much done (shoulder pad i had to re basecoat will be done again tomorrow), just need to decide if the sentinel is one from the 99th in which caes it will be the urban colours scheme, or if it's from another (earlier deployment to the world) that has been wrecked for a long time in which case it will be very rusty and overgrown. comments welcome.

Very nice! I take it you went for gloss to create the shiny effect on his boot? Personally, I'd go for making the Sentinel from a previous deployment - not only will it give you the opportunity to paint a nice contrasting colour to compliment and emphasise the model, but with your terrain modelling skills, it'll be really impressive

Yeah teh gloss was a bit of a test, looks better in person, glare from light makes it look a bit meh.
Have basecoated the sentinal up to be a camo green, will heavily weather it tho and have some vegitation growing over it. not today tho, as today is reserved for relaxing with my GF.
P.S
not linked to my army, but ... i have managed to get hold of the model of Leman Russ of the s=space wolves, including his pair of wolves (unmade models still have the flash etc). The only Primarch ever released by Citadel way back in 1992. will be my summer project, once i start it will pop up a thread about it.

Well, i may very well have get a bit sidetracked this afternoon and ... I have also done a bit more on the second squad, but not enough to warrent a picture, will finish them up this week i promice. Have an insentive now, as there's a shiny chimera hidden in my GF's desk that i've told her "not to give me till After i've finished my battleforce mini's" ;-)

Well, squad 2 is done, and as i wanted to show off something else the pictures are of a different format ;-) Whole squad protecting "Derek" Vox in Crater. Hope to have more time next weekend to get cracking on the next squad, and start on the HW teams.

"Derek" the oil derek will be finished at some point, along with "Barry" the barricade. once they are it'll be on to some oil pipeline and a refinery as a centrepiece.
I dont name all terrain, just those two ;-)
