Mabus, you are talking absolute sh*t. The AK costs around 100 US$ to manufacture, is cheap, exceptionally reliable, and accuratte. It also has much greater stopping power than the M16 series weapons and you can club people around the headwith it. The M16 is unreliable, has less recoil admitadly, costs about 10x more and if you hit someone with it it will disintergrate. (before you bullnuts this, this is from a former vietnam veteran, he's an old boy of our school)
The MP44 actually used 7.62(short) rifle rounds, and was the inspiration for the AK47 (lit: the russians nicked the design after the war). The german equivilant to the PPSH was actually the MP-38/40 series, which did use 9mm pistol rounds. The only difference there was the number of shots, the PPSH had about double cpacity thanks to its drum mag.(interestingly, the germans adopted captured PPSH's as MP-41s and modified them to use 9mm parambulen like the MP-38/40 series.)
The USSR was cool until Brezhnev came along. It was his incompetence that led to the USSR's downfall.

Sorry old fellow, I realise I was quite rude. But I do get quite worked up over matters of historical accuracy. The entire idea of the ol' Kasrkin Commissar is pretty damned cool.

wow, just looking at this thread for some time now makes me wanna say PICTURES Commissar!! otheriwse we'll all drown in each other torment about which gun is better oh and lol just to add something, they eventually modified it to the M16A1 specification. The revised rifle was finally given a chrome-lined bore and chamber to eliminate corrosion and stuck cartridges.

Some people think he looks silly... I think he looks cool. But how much does he cost, and for one model? Too expensive for my blood.
