Eric was panicked by the sight of the ork tide heading towards him. He unslung his rifle and let off a few shots in their direction, downing one ork with a shot to the leg but otherwise missing wildly.
Hearing Alex's order, eric dropped his rifle and reluctantly unslung the flamer. After checking his scant few repairs he turned the valve to allow fuel to flow to the nozzle. The acrid smell of volatile chemicals filled his nostrils. Fuel started to leak from the split hose, so he added another layer of rag to keep the line solid.
The leak stopped, yet the rags were still soaked. Eric turned his attention to the pilot light. Pressing the ignition button, he heard the click of the mechanism. Nothing happened. He tried again but still nothing. He hoped that the flint was still in place as he had no other source of ignition.
Eric offered up a quick prayer to the Emperor. The third time he tried, the pilot flame ignited. The warm finger cast an eerie glow for a few feet. Eric hastened to situate the fuel pack upon his shoulders and sling the flamer against his side. He then simply waited as the orks drew towards him, waiting for the right time to fire.
He had no way of knowing what would happen when he pulled the trigger. Would it be salvation or damnation?

Hardridge unslung his lasrifle and looked down the sights, an ork head emerged from the crownd, the shot went off and down the ork next to it compensating hardridge took another shot and killed another ork. sweeping for targets he noticed an ork at the back with a rocket. "heavy weapon at back right side" Hardridge yelled peepering the right hand side of the pack. Hardridge noticed the piping on celing had a all lead to a intersection, the pipes looked ancient and out of use but hardridge didn't know how hive's worked. Hardridge searched through his webbing and found a frag greande he'd picked up at the oupost. Pulled the pin, realeaseed the lever and threw it up to the intersection. As the nade went off a Section of piping came with it smashing the front of the orks with it.
Seeing as Eric had finnialy gotten the pilot light on hardidge smilled. "Eric with Emporer's Blessing we shall destoy this menace with the his wrathful flame, The empoere Protects and the Dreadner Destroys Eric this is life and we won't be flatter For Dreadner"

Eric winced when he saw Hardridges grenade bring the pipe down, he knew that it could be carrying anything. These hives were filled with random pipes that had been redirected and canabalised for different uses. A wave of noxious smell assailed his nose; fortunately it had only been a sewage pipe. A deluge of raw effluent continued to spray out of the shattered tube.
"Hardridge, that was either some balls or some stupidity! Good job that wasn't a dioxide feed or the methane shunt. We would all be with the Emperor!"
The orks seemed unfazed however, and drew ever closer. Eric felt that this was the time.
He pulled the trigger.

OOC: Sorry, guys, the plot clearly got away from me and it took a while to read thru everything and figure out what was going on!
IC: The tunnel ahead is filled with fire and the screaming of orks for two long seconds. When Eric releases the trigger it still takes a few more seconds for them to die down, and you feel your faces start to blister in the heat as the oil from the Ork bodies takes light. As it dies down, your eyes accustomed to the light are now plunged into darkness, and you blink it away. As your vision returns, you still only see black - scorched metal and the charcoal of alien remains. The orks behind them have vanished, and it is eerily quiet, except to the scrabbling and squeaking of what you hope are scalded rats in the pipes.
The other soldiers set up a cheer, and the Lieutenant in command turns to you. "Nice work, lads, bringing that flamer. Take two, everyone except heavy weapons gunners!" The heavy stubber gunner leans on his weapon and eyes the darkness warily as his comrades (excepting a heavy bolter crew) slump in their positions and start fumbling for replacement laspacks, ration bars, and lho-sticks. The lieutenant looks at the young Watchmaster, and asks, "Any news from base?"
"Say, that was some fight!" says a ganger in garish fatigues to you. "You boys are wicked!"

The watch-master gave a crisp salute and stood attention. "Yes Lt, I'll tell you everything I know. Well sir, we were sent to this defensive strong point to receive our next orders. They are organizing another squad to send after us, they should be leaving base any minute now. Other than that sir I don't know anything else. You will have to talk to my second and vox operator." Alex gave one more salute then walked away.
Alex walked over to his squad "Good job Eric, told you that flamer would come in handy. Better find some water and wash of some of that fuel though buddy and some more rags just in case." He turned to Hardridge great throw soldier. Now lets find the rest of our squad."

Eric stood there for a second, staring at the destruction that he had wrought. His skin was blackened with soot and his facial hair was singed in several places. There was a slight smile on his face.
"Wow, that was, unexpected. I thought I was a goner for sure." He announced to no one in particular.
Hearing Alex's order he gave a swift nod and proceeded to the wash tank. Wetting a rag he found he cleaned his flamer, and then started to clean himself. Getting most of the fuel off, he proceeded to search for something to help repair the unit. Unbekownst to him he had left large streaks of black across his face.
Eric found a small amount of electrical tape. He emptied the fuel line back into the tank, giving it a shake to see how much he had left. Suprisingly, his attack had not used much of the single cylinder that was functional. Eric bound the hose with the little tape he had scavenged.
"Much better" he muttered.
His maintenance done, Eric washed the remaining fuel from the rags he had and stuffed them into his pockets. He then slung the flamer, collected a few rations and a canteen; Eric then went to find the others.
At the back of his mind he kept repeating the scene of carnage that he had unleashed. He saw the faces of the orks as they charred and melted. He gave out a small chuckle.

Hardridge was uneasy, the harsh realty was setting in, he didn't want anything to do with it. When the flames spewed forth Hardridge had looked towards Trooper Gusts to his left but it Hadn't been it was Eric, Gusts was dead shot through his head the flamer falling down and igniting the Fuel lines of the crashed drop ship. He's ran for cover all round expolsions had erupted as the other drop ships fell victim to the ork fighta bombas. The 15th had died yesterday. Hardridge didn't know what to do and started walking, Eric was ahead of him catching up to him "Good work with that flamer, i told you it would make us safe and sound"

Um, somehow I missed that... I can't even visualize what you guys think is going on, because it's clearly not what I thought was going on... Is this a side entrance? You entered the tunnel half-an-hour ago in game. So half the squad, under Jarms/Alexander, is with the unit you were sent to reinforce, and SaN/Schrueder with the rest is... where?

OOC: First I think we should make a OOC thread. I sent Eli, Schrueder to defend the entrance where we came in. Because my character is getting paranoid at the fact that Eli could stab him in the back at any point and that Schrueder is giving me dirty looks ever since I got given command and a 4 NPC characters. And the other half of the squad is me, Eric and Hartridge and 2 NPC characters. That should equal 11 troops and I hope that helps you GM jenburdoo

OOC:
Defending the entrance... to the tunnel? The entrance between the tunnel and the cavern you just left? The entrance which the sergeant already sent you away from? Sending BACK half the men you were supposed to take TO the outpost?
Or do I have this all wrong?
Perhaps I just haven't made things clear. I will try sketching a map in Paint tomorrow. Maybe that will help us work out what's going on.
And I'll stick it in an OOC thread. Good thinking.

OOC:
No not that entrance. As the sergeant said there maybe ork commandos in the area. I sent a part of the squad to defend the entrance to the outpost where we were to receive our orders.

OOC: Quick use GM magic and make the squad altogether then and we'll work from there

OOC: Why can't we just assume that when the fighting arose the rest of the squad ran up to reinforce. Then we recombined when the attack ceased, thus allowing us to receive our orders and thus allowing us to continue the roleplay. Just state this in a GM update and push the roleplay to the next step.

Eric looked Hardridge in the eyes.
"Yeah that sure was a blast, I was half expecting the thing to explode in my hands. The sight of those flames rolling over the orks, it was sort of, beautiful."
Eric gave a glance towards the still smoldering remains of the ork assault.
"I think that I'm going to like this thing."

Hardridge's chest tighted as he heard eric's comments he thought the civilian would of been too trautised and given Hardridge ownership. The bad thoughts returned agian "Hey eric don't get cocky okay there are going more orks out there just stay down and sharp for me okay you not want to end up like Gusts. Come on let's find our friends"

The squad recombines, some of its members overawed by the carnage in the tunnel ahead. "Reload!" hollers the officer in charge. You hear tramping behind you, and turn to find another new squad marching into the outpost.
"Excellent." announces the Lieutenant. "We can move out and secure more of the tunnel. "You boys," he points to your squad -- "You go first."
Once more, you find yourselves out in the tunnel -- this time with the comforting presence of the outpost behind you. Advancing through the ruins you are happy for your rebreathers as you pass the burnt and shredded ork corpses.
Quick, who's on point?

Alex was in the lead, he was certainly glad he had his rebreather. But unfortunately the rest of the squad was't so lucky, as gangers these guys didn't receive any luxury. For most of the walk it seemed that the squad had returned to normality, it was quite. Possibly because of the smell of the ork bodies littering the roads and the fact they were trying to breath through there mouths. "It may seem obvious to you lads, this area has seen heavy fighting be prepared for ork stragglers." Alex said cautiously. He looked back at his men and smiled. Then he thought to himself. "Good work fellas, If we can pull this of we might just make it."
And next when they stopped for a rest he would gladly enjoy something to eat and drink.

OOC: ME! IC: After the Watch-Master had finished giving his little pep talk, Schrueder took the lead, his anger at his rejection by both his CO and the Ganger evident, causing most of the squad to quickly get out of his way. Leveling his Autogun, he paced forward, scanning left and right, with occasional checks behind, to make sure the rest of the squad was still with him. SaN Edit: Crap ninja'd. I'ma Edit it now and make it make sense

As you advance into the tunnel, only your own lamp-packs illuminate the darkness. Bones crunch under your boots and the stink of ork blubber fills your nostrils as you hastily move past the beaten zone. Once you are a hundred yards out, the scent dies away to leave a mustiness and a tang of rusty metal.
Alex and Schrueder, moving forward together, come upon the spiderweb at the same time. It's at a fork in the tunnel; the left hand tunnel goes down into the darkness, and the right angles slightly up. There is a slight breeze rippling the strands of monofilament wire that crisscross the right-hand tunnel, blocking your way. As you look closely, you notice small bits of machinery at the points where the strands cross.
Which way will you go?
