Not if its slushy snow, which makes everything filthy Quoted for truth. Try to find some photo references of WW II armor in snowy conditions--most of the vehicles I've seen in such photos had quite a buildup of mud and gunk along their lower surfaces.

Hey, Cosmic! What do you use for snow? and how do you get the lay pattern you achieve? It is pretty superb looking!

Thanks Krieg and Shostak krieg: The snow is crushed Rock Salt, you can get it cheap from any supermarket. I just stick it in a bowl and crush it into a powder with a rolling pin. I then just slap some PVA glue on the areas I want, all the raised edges and places you would expect the snow to settle, sprinkle the salt on and tap the excess off. Voila!

Looking great cosmic! I must ask about the shadows; Do you use a lof of dabad and then a new layer of CG, or do you just wash the edges and then repaint?

Looking great cosmic! I must ask about the shadows; Do you use a lof of dabad and then a new layer of CG, or do you just wash the edges and then repaint? Here's my recipe... 1) Undercoat White 2) Basecoat Codex Grey 3) Heavy wash of Badab Black over everything 4) Re-apply Codex Grey over areas, leaving the black wash 5) Highlight Fortress Grey Hope that helps.

....crush it into a powder with a rolling pin. Just a quick life-saving tip... Try a Pestil and Mortar, my missus used my rollin pin to make crushed ice for cocktails, and left dents in it. To say I was annoyed when my pasty looked like crap is an understatement

Ah but I use the end of the pin, I don't roll it over the salt Thanks though 3ff3ct!

I might steal that technique for the fatigues on the scavangers that will go into the new chimera if you don't mind

Haha well you should see my desk! It's covered! The basic Bombard is finished, I'm just painting the Crane on the back and the shell. Then I may decide to model some Crew to go with it.... The crew and the cream fatigues would break the grey up a bit more so I'm pretty sure I'll do something with them. I have some spare legs and bodies laying about...........and some plastic ones :-P

Comedy suggestion: Have a pair of crew member legs sticking out of the muzzle of the cannon, as the crew are up to some shenanigans? In all seriousness, though, the Bombard is looking most awesome, Cosmic!

In all seriousness, though, the Bombard is looking most awesome, Cosmic! Hmmm....tempting, tempting. And thank you Trooper I didn't no, might add it on to a future purchase I would recommend it, it's an impressive little kit. The chipping is easy as pie Pax . Once you've done the armour, literally just do dots, dabs and scraps all over the armour in Chaos Black..... Then take your light highlight colour (in this case Fortress Grey) and just highlight the bottom edge of the scratches All done

I like how there's a bit of weathering too, not too much is just enough to add some reaslism to it. Crew eh? It'll be interesting to see how you model them. Just remember that they're NOT Grot Riggers ;D
