Thanks Right, my painting level seems to have dropped over the past few days, I need to get my mojo back I think, but I've just done a quick torso tester for my future Veterans. It's mainly about the actual scheme, hopefully they'll look a lot better than this when I start painting them for real! Thoughts? The red stripes should be a lot darker I admit, I was just in a rush! Hmmm... Aside from the red stripes on the lasgun needing a little bit of neatening, I'd say that test mini looks pretty boss. Oh yeah, and I wish that I could paint as quickly and as well as you do, cosmic, so get that mojo back ASAP!

The black shoulderpads are a good way of showing veterans status. How can you you call that a drop in standard?! It's better than my usual painting...

Thanks Walrus , I was thinking of using someones idea I saw on here (can't remember who it was), by also adding just the facemask from the respirators you get with the Command Squad.

Cosmic that dude is looking good, I like the red strips on the Lasgun for the vets, it makes them stand out from the normal riff raff I agree, the Respirators will work well if there going to be vets. I hope the stuff i sent you turns up today, if not it will be Tuesday or Wednesday. I can't wait for you to get it If you need any thing eles or your skint and you want something to do just PM me mate Many Thanks Major Downer

I think now I'll only give some of them Respirators, but we'll see how it goes.
I've definitely settled on this scheme, I've darkened the red stripes and it look a little better, so just look out for an update sometime next week!

Next week?! By then they will all be done, and you will be moving onto the next thing... Well we'll see I can get the Guardsmen needed for the Vets on Tuesday, it'll take me a couple of evenings but I reckon I can get the whole 10 man squad done by either Friday or Saturday morning. And then I'm looking at getting a Hellhound or Chimera.

Woo double post! Anywho, due to my boredom yet again (I should be doing college work.....but I don't want too!) I thought about what changes I could make.... and since I've hated the banner since I first painted it I decided to spruce it up a little.. And here's the slightly darker stripes for my Veteran test... *EDIT*Instead of making another post I'll just edit this one with some more pictures. I've just whipped up a torso of someone.....he could be a Commissar, or a Commander, I don't know, but with some neatening up with Greenstuff He'll soon make a new addition. Daniel

I have to say, I liked the brighter lines on the vets...
And that is a brilliant conversion... I wouldn't have it as a commissar though, they don't tend to have all those shiney embellishments and personal glories on their uniforms.

Hmm I see what you mean, the Lord Commissar mini has the medals on him though, so I'm not too sure. I think I'll take a look at these legs majordowner has sent me, and then make a decision, but I think to add something new to the army he will probably be a Commissar.

That chainsword wielding guy has made me want to steal Gabriel Seth's chainsword for a Guard commander/commissar conversion... Hmmmm, yes that may work *walks off to beat Gabriel too it* I could indeed, but for the moment he's on hold because something new has arrived.... After recieveing today what can only be described as a parcel structurally reinforced with layers of tape, I have been busy preparing the models Majordowner has kindly supplied me with From this.... To this.... Firstly, thanks Major some really great bits in there too for me to play about with! Cheers. Secondly, these will definitely be my Veterans and I'll start painting later. I won't change the poses that much, just one or two. Cosmic

Resin?! Awesome... And is that one if Major's scratch-cast custom backpacks? Yeah Major included some resin cast base thingys...you can see them in the pictures. And I don't think so, all the backpacks are just regular plastic ones. Thanks Shostak, I'm tempted to change the head on the sergeant though I've just primed them white, but the paints gone very funny so they look a mess! Guess I better strip them again
