I suppose I could make my own, but that'll take too long and will probably be even more expensive! I'll leave them for the moment, and when I can I'll see what I can do. Cosmic Actually, its probably cheaper than you think. BOLS had a great tutorial about this, which can be found here

I do agree with the shoulders, but I don't know what else to do really as the normal transfers are only in white, and I need black. I'm aware that Forgeworld have a Black transfer sheet available, but I don't want to pay £8 for it. I suppose I could make my own, but that'll take too long and will probably be even more expensive! Decals are actually quite easy to make. Find a store that sells decal paper (I'd suggest decalpaper.com, but they're based in the U.S., maybe look into local hobby shops) and buy some for whatever type of printer you may have--there should be different backing color sheets available; I have personally used clear and white backing types. Make up some designs on your computer, either buy scanning stuff into Paint, or making up spreadsheets in Excel, etc. Print the designs onto the decal paper, and then have fun applying them to your guys. I made custom decals for my Blood Angels when GW stopped providing the necessary decals required to do proper squad markings, and they turned out quite nicely.

Thanks Pax and Trooper. Yeah I've looked into it, but I don't really want to fork out for that Micro-sol and something or other as well as paper and acrylic spray. We'll see though.

Actually, if you are applying any sort of decals at all, a bottle of Micro Set and Micro Sol are totally worth the investment. They soften and dissolve the backing substrate so the decal bonds supremely to the model, and looks like it has been painted on. I found out about the Micro Set/Sol system a few years back, and I swear by it now. You'll never have to worry about decals peeling off of your models again.

I'll look into it then thanks Trooper. People! I need help with what to actually call my army! It's just occured to me that I have no idea where they're from, perhaps I should just be lazy and say they're a Cadian Regiment. But any other ideas for a planets name?

You're welcome, Cosmic! I used to have terrible problems with decals peeling off of my minis, but since adopting Micro Set and Sol I haven't had problems again. It's great stuff.

My names are either based on something I like or come as random moments of inspiration. What are you interested in? Say for example it was ancient Greece, have a little think and come up with something you like the sound of. Going by my example they might becom the 23rd Delphini, after the Greek oracle there, (correct me if I'm wrong some one please)! I hope that that helps.

Well I've decided that they will be the '741st Callisto Regiment'. I used a sci-fi planet name generator on the internet and Callisto popped up, I quite like it . Also, my Chimera didn't arrive today so I thought I'd update with something else....and objective marker. I saw the new Golden Guardsman thread about what we all wanted and with most people opting for objectives I thought I'd have a rummage and put this together. But I was too eager to paint him so, he won't be entered. There are a few touch-ups and details to take care of, but he's basically there. He is a worker/crewmember near the front lines, hauling ammo crates etc. Whilst he is injured he gets caught up in the front line fighting, and with the line failing, he picks up a fallen banner and stands his ground, raising the morale of the troops. Hope you like, Cosmic

N'awww nobody loves me , hey ho. Lets see if this will get some response.... I've kept the Chimera cheap and cheerful for the moment, no dozer blade, HK missile etc. And here are some tantilising painted pictures for you And a blurry one, just to keep you on your toes... Cosmic

Looks great, besides the weathering it looks a lot cleaner than the sentinel... The scripture on the side of the turret is a nice touch.

Thanks Walrus, You'll have to trust me when I say it is a LOT dirtier than it seems. I think it's just the sunlight glaring on the white paint. I wasn't happy when I did the black wash, it just turned a very dirty grey, so i had a few hiccups with it. Do you think I should do some more details, like hull I.D? Thanks Shostak

Hmm, hull ID is good, but try not to make it to flashy... I would say use the old school stenciled letters, but your regiment name wouldn't work for it :-\

The Chimera is amazing too, i love how quickly you can get your models painted, and how great they turn out. Enthusiastic response!! Even better! Thanks everyone, I think i'll give some stenciled numbers a go, may even just use the transfers. In the mean time, I whipped this up last night. Only took me about an hour and half altogether.... Just a quick little statue . I've also just made another scenery bit, more pictures of that later. Cosmic

That is a most awesome use of an Inquisitor scale Space Marine, Cosmic! What was your recipe for the metal effect?
