Actually a number of people have said that these Incursion models are expensive. I bought the box of six at a standard games store for $75 AUD - I wouldn't get three ogryns for that, as they are anything from $30-35 AUD. I mean a single manticore/russ/valk are more expensive than what I spent on this unit (expecially as I already had the heads and bits at home. Add in another $12 for the bases and it is still a cheap 200+ point unit.

Also off topic is that a green earth infantry sprite in your avatar?

@ Beav(Burger), yes it is a green earth infantry sprite, a fact I have only just realised through googling that phrase. I got a sheet (pic) of WWII ones of these years ago and using Fireworks made this soviet guy with a side-cap (coincidentally long before purchasing any west wind heads). I've had him as an avatar for many a year now. Quick “update” today. This coming Saturday and Sunday a friend of mine and I are having an Apocalypse game at 12,500 points. I will be using my Imperial forces playing against my friend’s Space Wolves. The summary of the army I will be fielding is approximately thus: My Guard (from codex): 5500 points Borrowed Guard: 1000 points Imperial Navy: 1000 points Legio Titanicus: 1500 points Super-heavies: 1500 points Inquisition: 500 points 13th Company Space Wolves: 1750 points The models I own below are presented on the table (minus my poor forgotten Eldar). This week I’m hoping to finish the titan and built a proxy MDF Marauder Destroyer. I will be borrowing 1000 points of Guard and two extra Super-Heavies to make the total. My Imperial collection is below: I have decided to revive my second army, my 13th Company Space Wolves. I always loved this army, however they have been put in the draw since I’ve been collecting Guard. The background of this army was always very strong and they looked great. The new Space Wolf codex actually gives a good substitution of the original profiles of the models. Grey Slayers are essentially Grey Hunters, and Storm Claws are basically Wolf Guard. The new codex means that the 13th Company loose “scout” and “move through cover”. What I have decided to do is use drop pods, represented by warp portals. I think it is very fitting for them to come tearing out of the warp, and in both points and practice it will be a reasonable substitute for the lost abilities. This is my collection: This is one of the warp-portals: I know they are a tad small, but I’m working to solve that issue. I’ve still got about 12 infantry to paint, and the portal bases to finish. The idea was that in the process of re-vamping the army I already had most of it done, so it only needed a few additions to have a fully working 1500 point army. I’ve stayed true to the wargear originally allowable under the original 13th Company codex, and everything will be using “pods”, including the long fangs. My goal has been to make it a reasonably competitive, but very fluffy army. I have no intention of expanding it beyond 1500 points.

Are those FW heads on the "Ogryns"? Also, love the idea and may steal it at some point.

@ mccaptain, the heads are "Soviet Sidecap" ones from the West Wind Separate Head System.

I love the fact that none of the warp portals are round, and that they all look different, even different colours. All very Tzeentch...ish.

I’m making sterling progress. Between yesterday and this morning I’ve finished off another eight infantry. I will admit they aren’t the highest quality paint jobs I’ve turned out, but they will do for now. First up we have a vox-man and an ammo carrier: Second we have the three “helpers” for a set of mortar teams: Now in to the interesting models. Here is my version of Harker (I plan to put something (“Betty”?) in the plank spot on the side of the heavy bolter): Next we have the illustrious Marbo, with his portable wall: Lastly we have one of my favourite utility sergeant/lieutenant/captain models: Enjoy.

Greetings all, despite my best intentions my real life has once more gotten in the way of my modelling plans over this summer. My DKoK Engineers arrived a month ago, and after a cursory inspection they have been relegated to the cupboard until June/July, along with my blimps. This is due to the fact that I am currently conducting vacation work as a geotechnical engineer, and am competing in a tournament at the end of the month. My spare time as been involved with completing my list for the army I am taking. This is the list I plan on taking: CCS w/ Meltagun and Lascannon Veterans w/ 3x Meltagun Veterans w/ 3x Flamer, Power Fist and Demolitions Platoon: PCS w/ 4x Grenade Launcher Infantry Squad w/ Autocannon and Commissar Infantry Squad w/ Autocannon Heavy Weapon Squad w/ 3x Autocannon Valkyrie w/ Multilaser and Rocket Pods Vendetta w/ 3x Lascannons Griffon w/ Heavy Flamer Basilisk w/ Heavy Flamer Leman Russ w/ Heavy Flamer Total: 1200 points Anyway, today I finished painting a handful of models: First up is the lascannon for my command squad: This means the CCS is now finished: Secondly there is a pair of autocannons for the infantry squads: Thirdly there is a sergeant for one of the squads: Fourthly there are the grenade launchers for the PCS: Fifthly is my Commissar Lord (used as a Commissar): This means the two main characters in the list are complete – the incompetent but whiley Major Savoy and the arrogant show-pony Commissar “Yet-To-Be-Named” (think Captain Bertorelli from Allo Allo): Lastly there are the last three infantry models required for this list. They are the three meltaguns that will make my “Foreign Legion” Penal Legionnaires a veteran squad. They will all be painted as different regiments, and I should be able to get them painted tomorrow:

Ugh. More beautiful models, some really really nice looking models there. Also, loving the head swaps. Large scale head swaps = instant new Guard army that stands out. Side caps look good on guard!
HW teams in particular look great, especially all the terrain and debris around them. Ogryns are great - I love Ogryns but hate the models / fluff, they look like a great way to include them in your army if you don't like the fluff! Have also stolen the heavy stubbier/grenade launcher combo.
Don't worry about the pink hats. People laughed at the Germans when they picked 'rose pink' as their arm-of-service colour for the Panzers...

I love Bertorelli! He would be even better if he was actually painted in the right uniform. And then make a female officer he can flirt with. And a fiat chimera for him to ride in.

Nice! I also had in mind to make a foreign legion squad after watching a documentary on the French Foreign Legion. My own would be different though as I would give them the same gear, like the French Foreign Legion does.

@ Prilladog, you are right, that is a striking resemblance. I actually haven't seen Schindler's List (which is odd, due to my interest in history), but I do have it somewhere at home. I think it is probably time to look it up. My new project – a birthday present from a month ago. I need to have this finished over the next three weeks for a tournament, as the list I have submitted has both a valk and a vendetta, and this is the vendetta. I went with a nose turret, as I’ve never liked the lascannon placement either side of the pilots. I am now waiting on the lascannons for the wings to arrive. As soon as they do I want to get this puppy painted up, then I’m ready to go for this tournament. Keep posted, as likely this weekend or next weekend I’ll have this finished.
