Pasta making is one of those things I get into too much and before I know it I've made enough to feed my 2 year old, only its taken all afternoon Tastes much better than buying stuff from the shops though doesn't it?

@ 3ff3ct, there is little in the world that beats the taste of home-made pasta - there is also little in the world that beats the satisfaction of having made your own pasta. As of a few moments ago, I finished painting my vendetta. This was the last model for my 1200 point tournament next weekend (a week and a half away). Tomorrow night (as I'm going to bed now) I am going to post pictures of the completed army, ready for gaming. In the mean-time however, here is a teaser:

Great idea with the washed console glow, it gives a great effect! I'm sure the rest of it looks just as awesome

Wow, it looks incredible mate! Very inspiring to see all those images, and specially the army shot. The list might not be the most ultimate, but I reckon it can give out a beating. Any tactical plans?

Any tactical plans? Hit them with the kettle and take their dudes off the table while they're unconscious That is one very nice looking army, and shows off your hard work well. I'm sure it'll bag you a couple of victories!

Well done 3ff3ct, you've uncovered my secret battle plans ;D
In terms of game-play this list is a basic firebase with assault elements (the vets). I find that the griffon takes out vindicators and other light armour quite well whilst the russ and basilisk take on heavier armour (only if there is no infantry available). The infantry either shoot or move (quite often both) as needed. I try to be flexible given different circumstances. If the opportunity arises I might have a go at the fabled "Rolling Thunder" technique, but I'm not sure how prudent it would be to attempt it for the first time during a tournament.
I don't consider myself the best player around, but I'll certainly give it a crack at this tournament tomorrow (I'm getting a little nervous now). I'm going to be taking a heap of photos and taking notes, as I plan to compile a comprehensive account of the two days (there will be six full battle reports and pictures of as many armies as I can take). It will be something similar to the write up from my last tournament (see the battle report forum and look for something along the lines of Melbourne in Flamers 2011 (or ".MIF 2011")). I should be posting things up by early to mid next week.
If I get a chance I'll update you tomorrow night on the interum results.

Hello all, just a quick update: I placed 97 out of 150 players in six 1200 point games over the last two days. Overall Arcanacon was an enjoyable tournament, but boy am I buggered. Each day started around 9am and fininished around 7:30pm. It is bedtime now, as I need to get up at 6am in the morning Tomorrow morning I'll start writing up my first game on the train trip into work. I should be able to start posting up game reports in the next few days.

Not too bad! I'm very excited to hear how it went, I have 'tournementaphobia' although I'd quite like to do one....

You shall have to wait no longer 3ff3ct, as the first installment is in the link below. I am about to post up the first battle of the six now, and will add the remaining battles over this week. I recommend getting involved in a tournament if you can. I've been to two now and they were both good. That said the two I went to have reputations for being player-friendly and not being too full of die-hards. www.commissar.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=aar&thread=14763
