Also, Downer, good use of the basing kit. I'm liking the bases on your Vosties. If you keep it up, you might win the Golden Guardsman sometime soon!

Hello Syphon, Thank you for your kind words I really like the bases too, I thought if i could kept them plain and simple then the models would stand out more, I like to think i achieved that. Win Golden Guardsman? Sorry for being a complete N00B but what is that? Many Thanks Major Downer

That Vindicare reminds me of the Strength boost ability on the original crysis game... Do tell, how did you get that effect? I'm tempted to do it with a different colour now

Ahh fair enough... I have done this on a model somewhere.... I'm fairly sure the technical term for it is glazing...
Also, with the hair braid on the Callidus, was the paint supposed to leave the tops and go hide in the recesses?

Hey Walrus, Yes I purposely wanted that effect on the hair, i think it stands out a bit more that way To get that effect I ran my finger down the braid after I painted the hair. Major Downer

No worries then... Back when I first started painting, I always used to have that effect when painting the hair on my CSMs... I fixed it though. Remember kids, Having a waterlogged brush is bad.

Golden Guardsman is an award given out here for excellence in whatever we can come up with. You stand a good chance of winning it if you enter, I'd say.

Looks excellent, the bases do a good job of tying the ratlings in with the rest of the army while their different color scheme is nice contrast. It's minor but I don't know if the commander's swagger stick/baton should be all one color, maybe the bands on it could be done in a different color to break it up. There's a ton of details on the commander and you did a great job of making them noticeable but the pose of the model draws attention to the swagger stick which just looks like a metal pipe.
The snipers are awesome, still some of my favorite models GW has made I need to get some one day even if I just stick them in an Inq warband or something. Nice to see the prone heavy bolter, I don't understand why GW couldn't put a prone body in the plastic heavy weapons kits.

Hey Ogguardsman, This is why i ask for C&C, Before I didn't pay any attention to the baton but after you said that i can see it does look like a bit of pipe lol. Ill change that strait away, thanks I love the prone dude as well i dnt know why they didnt do a set of guardsmen prone aiming down the scope or something alomg those lines, I know i would buy some. Many Thanks Major Downer

All updates looking fine. I would only offer that some washes on the metallics would really go a long way to making the metals look sharper. I understand that washes might now be tricky with all of the shale down on your bases (since they'd drink up any wash that moves down to the feet, etc.)
I can tell you are having fun painting, it shows in what you write and the progress you are making. Keep it up, the army is looking great so far and remember that any suggestions offered here can almost always be added to the group later, i.e. you can go back and do washes on everybody after you knock out x amount of figures...
Best,
Yeti

Your Vosties are looking really good, majordowner! Aside from some washes on the metals, as Yeti suggested, I can't really think of anything else that these minis "need".

That's what I'm talkin' about! That is absolutely brilliant! I might suggest not dong the syringe as filled with blood, seeing as the main colour everywhere is red... maybe a green?

Green because it stands out from all the red, and while the medic could be giving an emergency blood transfusion, some sort of drug/painkiller would make more sense to me.
Loving the commander!

For a pain killer, try blue. a bright vibrant blue. Or a purple. green just reminds of the movie "troll"...

Hello Poolee Aeon,
I prefer the blue idea to the green, i wasn't to fond of the green.

Old style Ratlings (far superior than the new ones)! They're actually my favourite part of this army so far, as the painting job on them just seems to work so very well.

I think the vial in the syringe should be a gradual change from dark green to a pale green, sort of like Fabius Biles chirurgeon syringe with blood on the needle. Thats my 2 cents anyway

Remove the "glass" section with pliers, replace it with a cut down tube (the brush protector ones) and half fill this with water. then stick the needle "top" back on.
You know you want too...
