Gee thanks!
But to walk up to a critter while wearing flip flops and using a black light and wielding a crowbar is not at all challenging I assure you.
I'm revamping my training regimen soon.
Stay tuned those of you who still care.

Do you always use the crowbar on them, or whatever you have to hand?
It just seems that it's not the best choice of weapon compared to say a baseball bat, or mace or something.

Well the crowbar has a tapered end so that I can get into crevasses more easily. You do realize that these scorpions are only about three inches long at most. It's not like I'm 'battling' these darn things in some type of post-apocalyptic cage match. I just sneak up and crush them with the end of the crowbar.

I thought it was in vogue to wait when that's what someone indicates we should do. Do you always use the crowbar on them, or whatever you have to hand? I've taken to using a shovel and a huge mound of dirt as my workout. I shovel it from one location to the next. The main reason for doing this is because I'm always amazed when people have what I refer to as 'Farmer Muscles'. You know...people that have strength yet don't look all buff. Perhaps that's the same as 'core strength'. Who knows.
More 'Kung-Fu' type workouts to come.

Kung fu was brilliant back when I did 6 months of Wing Chun (this is 12 years ago, mind).
Anyway, the teacher was really traditional; a genuine Grand Master and just how he made me stand all the time made my legs hurt like crazy.

I'll post some of the exercises they are having us do with detail for my PT class if you guys want. There is the normal routine, and 2 conditioning routines we do, depending on the day.

@rt: I know the exercise makes me real tired without pain so it must be doing something good.
@chem: I thought about learning Wing Chun but it just didn't look lethal enough for me. I could totally be wrong though.
@orren: Yes, please post ANYTHING that you think will be helpful. Believe it or not you guys are my support structure and I need alternatives to my regimen or else boredom sets in. Boredom is the body killer.

One which is nice is the bicycle crunch. You use the normal crunch position, knees up, with your fingers interlaced behind your head. Then you extend your right leg straight while bringing your right elbow and your left knee together, then extend the left leg, and bring your left elbow and your right knee together.(Meeting halfway. It's easy to move your knee up high, and that defeats the purpose really.) Both of those are one rep. We do 10 reps during warm-up then 20 during the actual PT. Also, if you want to make it considerably more difficult, don't move your knee in at all. That way it is just your abs working.
If you get tired of normal push-ups, you can do one-legged push-ups. When you go down, lift one of your legs up, alternating each time you go down. Then there is our conditioning push-ups. You start in a standing position, drop to the push-up position, do 'two' push-ups, then stand up. We do it in an 8-count movement, 2 into position, 2 counts for each push-up, then 2 to get up, pretty quickly. Basically crouch to your hands, push-up position, down, up, down, up, crouch, stand, 1. The sergeant said we normally do 20 of those at the start of the year for conditioning.
Then, I don't recall the exact name, but it is a front row kind of thing we do in normal PT. You get on your stomach with your arms straight out in front of you, and your legs straight. Then you pull your arms back, and lift your legs up, while keeping your legs straight. We warm up with 10, then do 20 normally. Also, when you pull your arms back, lift your chest. I forgot about that part until today at PT.
Those are a couple of the ones we do, mostly basic ones besides the conditioning push-ups. I'll list some more when I get the time, but right now I have to do some homework for critical thinking and Arabic.
I also don't remember all the exercises for each routine, so they will be bit by bit. I'll see if I can ask the sergeant for like, a list of the exercises. I'm prety sure he has one.

Rook! Salutations, I haven't posted much here but have been working on my own a bit and got the mother of all moral boosts just recently (a reunion, friends saw the difference that had escaped me because I see myself every day) and want it to mean something! I have been focusing on my legs and are very happy with them but want to move on to my core. I'm starting with doing a sit up each night for every scorpion you kill, so keep them rolling in! Also, planking: do you find this just working on the core or the limbs as well?

127 push -ups per night?
That's good. Are you divinding them up into sets, or all in one go?

I'm pretty sure Rook's referring to the number of scorpions he's killed since moving into his new house.
