Pimp your lasgun

i gotta admit... im not a fan of the look of the lasguns, i think maybe its because ive seen the same old design being used again and again..
in real life im a bit of a military fanatic and modern weapons exite me very much, so with that in mind i decided to start modifing my soldiers lasguns to look more military and modern.

heres a fairly easy guide to change the look of your lasguns like how i have done it to mine... i specially made up a 'show peice' lasgun for this purpose alone.



these are the items you will need
a cottonbud
a standard (cadian) lasgun
a cadian bayonet knife
the scope from the heavy weapons sprue
(optional) a flamer

step 1 ... the cottonbud should be hollow inside and makes the perfect suppressor...cut about a 5 mm peice... to make it fit the lasgun you need to shave down the existing flash hider like so..

step 2 ... remove the nub underneath the barrel for the supressor to fit flush to the body

step 3 .. (optional) i prefer the look of a skeleton stock so i have removed the curve of the stock to make it a lighter looking stock



step 4 .. glue the supressor to the barrel and fit it flush to the body

step 5 ... cut the blade of of the cadian bayonet to leave just the handle .. this will be the vertical grip.



step 6... attach the vertical grip on the bottom side of the rifle midway.

step 7 ... attach the scope with the large lens facing the buisness end of the gun.



OK so now you have a finished gun, but if you fancy a tactical torch them do this...

step 8... remove this section of the flamer... this will be the torch unit.



step 9 .. attach to the gun, torch facing forward...






there we go.. a pimped rifle... and when painted you could make it look like this...

That is great, good for objectives (capture the ammo, weapons, modded weapons ect) but what I would like to see is the pimped lasguns being held (you wouldn't be able to use the knife handle/grip) by a kick ass veteran.

Heavy weapon arm? Or clip the hand off of the long special weapon arm and turn it 90^o, matbe switch it to a different arm.

Exactly. The Empire Archer box comes with all sorts of useful cadian-sized open left hands that can be used very inventively with a bit of chopping.

I went ahead and used some of the ideas here to convert up a few SMGs. I did pretty much everything excluding steps 7 and 8 and instead of a knife handle for a grip I used a Boltgun's handle. Also shortened the overall body (snipped it between the skull and the right wing) to give it a more compact look.

I thank you ashotninja for both the motivation and especially the idea!

Nice looking conversion. Here are a couple of mine for inspiration...


This first one is a tactical style I did. I started with a vehicle lasgun with the folding wire stock, chopped the end off just after the Aquila and added a length of 1/16" square styrene rod which I applied ridged sheet cut into strips to make accessory rails. I added a grab handle from the vehicle sprues for the top rail and the sight from the heavy weapons sprues. The last change is the addition of a bolter magazine.


The next conversion is simple. Chop the lasgun at the skull and attach a lasgun piece from the Chimera kit and add a bolter clip. Simple and effective.

Ashotninja, your a genius. Thankyou for sharing! Looks awsome. The lasgun always did look a little bit "fake" somehow. Think your modification is tip top. Tempts me to convert my own unit of stormtroopers and give them these guns for thier "hot shot" weapons.

Perhaps, but that isn't really pimped.

Find a lefthand that is off doing something, like pointing, then add the knife handle/grip.
