Sorry for the absence, had a random hectic few days and it seems I've missed an entire debate on my thread! I'll answer a few points now then I'll add a few pics afterwards.
Firstly, Brigadier, I'm afraid I don't know what models you mean, I'm fairly ingnorant of most of the GW range, could you post a pic?
Regarding the handswap debate, you've pretty much answered it DadCRO! I'm a fan of subtle conversions like this, I can't remember wich arms I used but basically to chop and change anything about! I recommend pinning though, its easy to drill plastic and stops the risk of breaking.

Now for some pics! At last my commissariat force has a commissar!! Before the pics of him though I want to apologize for the lack of veterans I said I would get finished, I've been really busy and also my local GW has not been open each time I go down to get a few bits! So they are still not finished! Almost there, need to decide my basing colour, not happy with it so far and I also want some differnent grass and was considering the basing kit to liven things up. Fingers crossed I can get them done soon! Now for what you really want some pics of my latest model. I was saving him till he was based but I decided to share as is, hope you like him, my favourite model so far: I have more photos but for some reason it won't show them the correct way up?!! Any one have any ideas? I use photobucket and have never had this problem before!

Question: Will you be completing the bases? That is the one thing that takes a good model to a great model, an awesome base.

Hey! You stole my Commissar! ;D Just kidding, I have the same mini painted in more or less the exact same way, down to the colour of the ribbons for his medals. The only difference is that I gave mine a red power fist. It really is one of th ecoolest GW minis IMHO. Nice job!

Pax- yes I plan on basing asap, I just need GW to actaully be open for once!!
egon- I would love to see your commissar. I agree, one of my fav minis of all time.
Brigadier- I think hes great! He looks like a bit of a rough and ready commissar, attached to keep some rabble of guardsmen in check!

Greetings all! I bring gifts. Although my vets have still progressed no further due to my basing quandary (and the fact that my local GW has not been open for the last 7 visits into town!). I have managed to finsih their chimera! This is my first ever vehicle so I was learning on the job so to say. Unpainted pics can be found earlier in the blog. I wanted it to look battle worn but well maintained and not old and tatty, I think I kind of got it right, I hope. Its got some weathering, dust and mud up the sides and lots of scratches and a few bullet holes. Without further ado here are the pics! Let me know what you think! Flamer configuration: Bolter turret: Pintle Stubber:

That is a really nice looking Chimera--especially impressive since it's your first vehicle! Keep up the outstanding work!

Wow that is one good looking chimera!! I especially like how you have done the lenses: Would you please share that?

Thanks guys!
Gerner: I just followed the standard GW method for the lenses, it is a bit fiddely but worth I think. Basically choose your main colour, say blue. Start of plain black then highlight with decreasingly smaller highlights towards the bottom left. Startig with a mix of black and blue, then more blue, then plain blue, then blue with a bit of white, then more white etc, about 5-7 stages. Finsih with a hightlight of plain white on the top, which is meant to be a reflection point. Then the last bit is the most important! Apply a coat of gloss varnish to give it that glassy look!

Holy %#$! this is incredible! Would you be willing to take the time to type a detailed description of your weathering and battle damage process for us (or me ) lol. I've been really struggling to find a way to make my Russ look less "factory fresh"

Thanks Kriegeirk
Yeah I wouldn't mind, I think it would be easier if I did a stage by stage photo tuturial if you want. I shall see what I can do this week!
