They look very male, maybe make them a bit more gaunt and thin the brows?
Also, hair?

Actually the "chubby boys" comment rings true, I'm afraid. It's interesting because I get feedback from different folks and no one ever sees things the same way. Oh well, still more work to do on them! -Steve

Hell your churning out heads bloody quickly lol, I wish I had a hope in keeping up with that sort of pace!
In response to the Female Heads, I think its the chins, and the heavy brows they look a bit broad and masculine. Some of the other features don't help, but I think reworking these two would make a big difference.

@gravis: Doing most of the process myself allows me to get things rolling fast, if only I had one of those 3D printers... Yeah those "female" heads just didn't cut it. I need to approach them differently, maybe find another artist to tackle them. They'll get done, that's for sure. @cosmic: Cool, let me know when you want some samples of these new heads for painting, no rush, I know you're busy -Steve

The female heads look kind of like what one would expect a peasant farm wife to look like. It just looks like they have too much flesh on their faces for someone in active duty. I'm not sure that they are too masculine though.

Yeah I can see how much of a difference thats makes, I had hoped it would work out simiarly, but doing it the old fashioned way seems so much slower, even if I do enjoy it!
Anyway look forward to seeing the revised females, theres definately a big market there for them.

You're missing a few - Van Damme, Jet Li, Chuck Norris, Dolph Lundgren, Schwarzenegger and Terry Crews. I'm sure there are a few more action hero's I've missed.

All of the male heads that you have submitted on this thread are highly detailed and characterful (I'm liking the homage to action heroes from my mispent youth especially).
Rather than stating your female heads look mannish I'm hoping I could offer you something more constructive. Computer modelling affords you the ability to go to town in the detail department (why your male heads look so stellar). A female head at the same scale ends up hurting when you take it there. I'm not a sculptor but I would offer a tip from comic/ line drawing that I hope will come across as help rather than criticism.
Less is more. A feminine face translates best as smooths rather than hard lines and angles. A female face is often delivered more effectively by suggestion or inference (a tapered jaw/chin often being the sole exception). The result might feel unrealistic compared to the the other models you have created but trying a "stripped down" model might be worth a go if you have been ruminating over the detailing.
Eagerly awaiting more images.

Steve, you are a bleedin' hero! How about some female personalities too? You could have Alice from Resident Evil, Vasquez from Aliens (though not feminine, we need a Hudson too. "How do I get out of this chickennuts outfit?" ), Dizzy from Starship Troopers, a Sarah Connor from Terminator...

horrid74: Yes! You have put into words what I have realized over the last week or so. I need to change my approach when modeling female faces. They are still on the list syphon: lol...in light of the previous answer, it may be a few months. However, there does seem to be quite a bit of support for more personalities. Let's see what happens with this first set, hopefully due out in January. Thanks to everyone for the continued feedback and kind words. I post a little less now that I'm bust doing these, but please don't hesitate to speak up about an idea. -Steve

Doesn't Victoria Miniatures make a Michael Caine? How about a head set with Bromhead, Chard, and Colour Sgt. Bourne? That would be cool

She does yeah, but an individual head would be even better IMHO, especially if you were to follow through as you say and do a Rourkes Drift personality set, I'm sure you could pick out a couple more as well, perhaps a Hooky and a Witt as well?
