Looking good, not too different from the trenches I'm working on.

Thanks guys. Cosmic, I will be spending regrettably large quantities of money on clear resin for both puddle details and the 5 river boards...

Got all 10 boards textured on one side. There are some gaps when it goes together which I'll need to fill out with strips of card or something, but it's coming together!

Loving those trench works..
The Imex hexagon platform kit is impressively tall too!
... and is that the old necromunda terrain.. you've kept it looking pristine!

Yeh, I was dead impressed with that Hex kit. More so that it was only £6 from Modelzone, although I don't think there is anywhere with a regular supply at that price. The floors are the same height as the Necromunda system so I expect walkways will work between. That one is therefore 2.5 storeys compared to the bulkhead system, since the ground floor is raised a little.
My issue with it is that it has a lot of different sizes and angles, so I would expect it to be very difficult (unapproachably so) to try and make any designs that deviate too much from the given one. Certainly not from scratch. I think it will look really good painted up though, and that's just the "small box" kit!
The Necromunda terrain is not as pristine as it looks in the photos, the hidden edges where the bulkheads slot in are getting very ragged. I'm currently trying to figure out a way to save it, from a couple of options:
- Leave it as is, but seal the worn parts in PVA to extend their life. Keeps it flat-packed, although printed card doesn't look as great as proper terrain. - Glue it together, paint and base it. Would look fantastic, but take a massive amount of space to store and move. - Replace the card with something more durable - does anyone have any suggestions here? I'd need a lot of it...
Adken - it's thick card, with modular grey plastic bulkheads from the original Necromunda boxed game and expansion.
The main thing I've learned? Necromunda is amazing. I think my IG are going to stay in storage for a long while until I run out of opponents for this...

Oh riiiiight!! Im with you now. Heh, i only play necro due to its awsomeness! You cant kill someone by jumping off a building and landing on them in 40k Plus walls have HP.

What I love most about it is there's reward for actual tactics, while the more I play 40k the more it feels like metagaming and list building. Of course, Necro does have a massive luck factor!

Luck adds to realism... In reality a farmer could gun down an SAS elite if he got lucky enough...

With enough luck involved, an untrained 13 year old could take down a fully trained prime if his like special forces agent. Life is luck. That's why we're not all born rich or empoverished.

Progress: wetness! This will take a day or two to dry, then I'll do ripples on the surface. Sorry for the phone camera picture, I'm at my parents' as they have suitable garage! Edit: Better picture.

I'll pop the army on once they're finished :-) I'm still texturing the reverse sides, 3 more to go! Then it's roads to sculpt, grass to go on, and the river surfaces to do.
I actually don't play much 40k any more in favour of other games, but the cottages will get a lot of use in Song of Blades and Heroes, and Saga when I get around to buying an army for it!

Been a while, hm? Massive progress on these bad boys though. 4 down, 16 to go: I'll do two more pretty soon, then work on hills etc. I haven't been on the board for ages, hope everyone's doing well?

It's such a shame that that beautiful little village will soon be a bombed out crater when tanks come rolling through if you ever play 40K on it that is Magnificent work. As Adken said, it's beautiful.

inspired by this topic me and my regular gaming buddy will start building our own table this evening (or atleast get all the materials and start cutting out 12" tiles from polystyrene). Have you found a less hand-maiming trick to cut out the trenches etc? I was thinking about maybe a hot air gun, melting it away as pleased? As for the painting, did you first glue the sand to the table and then applied paint, or did you mix some sand with the brown paint and then just painted the whole thing?
