Haha, I have Sci Fi buildings, bunkers etc to drop on the landscape as appropriate.
For cutting, I ended up just cutting straight down to the backing and pulling it up in chunks, then smoothing the edges. End result is better anyway, flat bed made the river easier.
What you could do alternatively is just cut them on a board before you stick them down anyway.
P. S. Getting very slight warping, recommend mdf over hardboard!

I got mdf mate! used it before as well.however, since cost was an issue (it's a joined project with my regular opponent who hasn't invested in any terrain (whereas i own an entire imperial sector, etc ) and he didn't want it to get "too" expensive. We ended up getting 8 24" by 24", 6mm thick mdf panels upon which we are currently placing some fixed hills à la realm of battle-board. We also placed some of my terrain on it to see how it would look and it looked great, and all thanks to you mate! I've wanted to make a decent board for a very long time now but never got around to doing it! Do you have any recommendations about the painting micture and flocking? Did you apply the flock while the paint was stil drying, of did you give it a light coating of PVA glue and then applied the flock(after painting it)?

I painted the boards with slightly thinned pva then threw sand on. Tipped it off when dry then used a thin wash of acrylic paint and pva to bind it - works a charm. Same again for the flock, only more sparse and used matte medium rather than paint obv. Glad to be of help!
