I was contemplating getting the extra armour sides from forge world for my chimeras, but at ten quid a pop I would be lashing out 80 quid! So I'm thinking that's a little over the top. So I was wondering what everyone else does for extra armour upgrades.
I was thinking about looking for a hard plastic netting, but don't know where I would locate that. Unless I was to just cut out diamonds out of plasti card, but then again that's a lot of holes to cut!
What's everyone else's view?

£1 shop, they have plastic grate covers that should do the job.

Thanks all for your suggestions, but I'm going to pay a trip to the pound shop, and see what the grate covers are like. If they are suitable, ill be cutting them so they don't stick out like the forge world ones do, but so they will be in line with the bit that already sticks out on the cast.
Or maybe I will just be too lazy and not bother lol!

Well, this is the idea. It's not attached to balanced on a piece of plastic and rested against the edge of the chimera. Thoughts and ideas please :-)

I think it could work! It's just how will the paint sit on the mesh

Can't help but thing there are too many holes for it to work as armour.

I think I'm going to have to spray it a couple of times and just make it looked used. The trick will be mounting it to the vehicle.

the mesh works, but id make some plastic card cut outs and then glue the mesh on it. if you look at pics from tanks in WW2 (mainly german and russian) they did use mesh looking armor, but it wasnt to provide extra amor, but keep magnetic mines from taking out treads. so either one works!

Looks like the mesh schurzen playing the Germans used in ww2 to cause an early detonation in AP shells. I would try to make it look like smaller plates, maybe 1/4 the current size, and I'd give them a frame, but otherwise it looks good.

dosent even have to be metal mesh, you could use a old window screen to get the samller holes effect

I think I'm going to make a frame out of plasticard so it doesn't look so simple. I might get time to work on this tomorrow night.

They still use mesh like armours, seen Tanks in Afghan with it. Think part of the idea is stuff like RPGs will detonate on it taking the force away from the armour plate.

well you could try using some plastic card and green stuff, cut out and make a frame around the sides of the tank, and make a bunch of green stuff sand bags and put em along the frame
