Well now that Ivorys Sallies are done (until September at least) I can get back on track with everyone else commissions. Tomorrow I'll be working on Mad Robot miniatures and Cheminhaler's UFOs, but I thought I'd just show the tester I did for Prilladogs Russians.... Thoughts and opinions? The base isn't done and it was a quick scheme but I'm happy with the result so far.

Where there is someone who needs model information, I will be there Where there is someone in need of painting critique, I will be there Where there is someone who has left their bathroom window open, I will be there!

Dude that guy is awesome. My one concern though (And as you know I feel utter nuts for saying I have an issue) is that compared to the standard trooper (Like in the picture I gave you) he seems to be brown as opposed to green. Now I know the man isn't 'green' and isn't 'brown' but maybe try and get a mid-point? Also I'd suggest maybe making his hat like Catachan (or whatever) Green though. www.soviet-power.com/pictures/soldier1.jpghate that tunic >.< I like the model, think the uniform needs to be a bit lighter and the armour a bit darker. Can post a pic of my M40 and my Obr'35 and Obr'43 tunics if you want, might help

Righto! Prilla can finally get his update So this morning I stripped the Chimera and Leman Russ Tanks. The Chimera will be a T-34 style vehicle naturally. So with that in mind I have just cobbled this together... I've added the two side fuel tank things to make it look more authentic, we've all seen T-34s with those barrels added on the back. Now I also managed to find a bottle of RUSSIAN Green....so there should be no more disputes over the colour....Prilla....I'm looking at you The two on the left are the original scheme that were a no-no, the two on the right are the new RUSSIAN green... Personally I still feel the two on the right are more authentic, but never mind. Maybe that colour for the Valhallans, Prilla?

I like the darker green as well. I really want to see that tank painted up.

Thanks for your input everyone Sorry for the quietness, however after seeing Trooper One-Nine-Seven-Four s post on the book of face this morning about his Eldar, Forgeworld goodies and painting, I kicked myself up the arse and thought to myself, 'Now time to get cracking!' So since 9am I have indeed been cracking on! The T-34 has been primed, and I've been revamping the Leman Russ. I have however just hit a snag. I'm in need of a Heavy Bolter or other weapon ( Removed s chosing) for the Hull weapon. I'm just having a look through bitz websites at the moment to get one, OR if anyone has just one laying around for trade I'd gladly accept. I'm always looking for strange little things so if you have any FW left overs let me know as well! I shall get pictures up this afternoon for you all EDIT As promised, the pictures... The Russ is in a bit of a bad way already, it's taking some time to fix and it won't be perfect. But it's the best I can do for it at the moment. Made the replacement doors look a bit more armoured, they should blend in more once its painted.

Also with the tanks, I know you've primed them but they are getting built up to green right? I dunno how you do them but yeah i've known t34/85's to be green abit like the men. 'Russian Green'. I feel like i'm being a pain now so i'll vanish. /Whoosh. Wait for it.... Wait for it.................. I can finally use my 'silly comment' dog picture!! Yes, Prilla, they will be green! I wouldn't give you Russian infantry and plain grey tanks! . They will be primed grey, preshaded black, then built up to green, don't worry. If you can send me a HB that'll be grand

Oh gods......
You just made me realize how I was going to make the Imperial Arm portion of my Horus Heresy army.
The Merican Imperial Army regiments will be remade. The Kasrkin based minis will stay...... but I'll get the Westwind US Gasmask heads, and the Gorgon infantry strips. A WW2 style regiment. Brilliant.
Any for basing Cosmic? They'll be fighting alongside Ultramarine legionnaires. I was thinking Urban bases, or maybe even desert.

However I feel Removed deserves the claim as this is his army You can't go wrong with urban. Why not try something different though, something new. Forest floor with puddles from water effects? Righto, to show Prilla that his commission is still going on I was going to update with lots of new pictures. However, Imgur has decided to completely change its layout and I cannot for the life of me work out how to use it properly so this is a simple test. I have started stripping the Valhallans and what a difference it has made.... i.imgur.com/PpYW9HD.jpgThat's the only photo for the moment, bloody imgur.. Once the Valhallans have been stripped, it'll be easy to paint the whole lot in one go. All the best, Cosmic

These are incredible Cosmic, they remind me of a mixture between Stalker and Metro 2033. We need to talk business ;-)

I know I know When I took them outside to strip my mum picked one up and said 'are these for one of your commissions? They're nuts' I made a point of telling her they weren't yours and that they're a lot harder to paint than they look.

Bonjour!! Well it's that time again....an update! I've gotten on really well the past couple of days and now it's time to get a verdict from all of you, especially Prilladog though. So after a brief discussion Prilla and I decided we would try a slightly winter theme for the Russians now, as the white would break up the generally dark colours he had originally wanted, also, it was a good opportunity for me to try a white wash on a tank which is something I've never done but always wanted to try. For those who don't know, a white wash was used during WW2 by Tank crews to help change the camouflage on their vehicles during the winter. Expensive paint wasn't always at hand, so they would mix up stuff like Lime and Chalk with water to make a quick alternative to painting their tanks white. This wash however would run off in the rain so often left the vehicles patchy and the paint broken up, giving a rather interesting look to the tanks. But on to the pictures. Model wise, I finished off the Chimera/T-34 by adding some small hatches to the turret as well as rivets, to help blend it in to the chassis... Now here comes the nerve wracking bit, the paint scheme. Now I'm very happy with the results, the white wash was simple to do and I think I've got a good effect but whether it's what Prilla was hoping for, we shall see..... Just to show you how it will all come together with the troops as well... I feel they all look quite coherent and the colours as real as I can get them (obviously nothing is finished in these photos, especially the infantry. So don't judge them just by this) I would really like as many peoples feedback as possible on this, so if you're reading this please leave a comment. Good or bad, let me know please! And Prilla, especially you. Although it's a bit late now anyway just to wind you up. Cosmic

You little git, you actually terrified me there for a second! I've never felt terror like that before! Haha Tis fantastic you're happy with it though! The Leman Russ looks the same as the mo but with less detail so I'll get cracking on that Sunday

Seriously Cosmic, the amount of realism in your work is fascinating. If this is not finished work then I am very excited to see some completely finished work!
