For ages I have been putting off finishing building and painting my vehicles So I am doing a WIP. I have a chimera, hellhound, basilisk, manticore and medusa built now I did some work with plasticard on the chimera but to be honest it got very tedious so I won't be doing it to the rest. I had to do a lot of filling as I rushed it off. It looks a bit neater once undercoated. A dry brush brings out the plasticard and I actually really like it The black will be part of my camouflage pattern so I am now prepping to spray my next colour in the pattern

I don't like the texture(?) of the plasticard myself but I'm waiting to see your painting. I've never seen digital camo on Chimera before but I think it would look great. Really interesting idea. Fingers crossed!

That plasticard looks pretty neat. I'm also really curious how this will look once it's all painted up. Looks promising though!

Ha thanks. This took ages to do though, I am not that patient at times and it stopped being all that precise and very much just stick things on and lop bits off insitu hence its rough on the edges.

Stop being lazy, do this to everything, it's awesome! I agree, if you do this for all the vehicles it will be maddening at the time but think about all the adoration you'll get when they're all finished.

I'm on the bandwagon with the texture. It almost reminds me of the zimmerit anti-magnetic coating the Germans put on their tanks in WWII to keep magnetic mines (*cough* melta bombs) from sticking to the tank. I can see how gawdawful tedious it would get, though. Certainly not an endeavor I'd have the patience to undertake.

Great color scheme, the digital pattern is rare in 40k and should be used more often.

May I ask where you got the textured plasticard from? Great work too!

This texture in particular I got from a local hobby sop in Perth. In another hobby shop, which sells all your model trains and planes and stuff like that. They have lots of the plasticard

I love the ideas going on here, original and unique. I think it already looks great, can't wait for the finished product.

Me neither... But I can speak for the tracks:
Brand new - Glossy black
Used every day - Very shiny, almost silver
Used, but in a "meh"-kind of way - rusty

do you think all should have the same texture? Or maybe different? All the ones you can stand doing, do with the same texture. (although I can't see the pics so I hope this isn't a horribly timed response)

I commend your bravery and initiative for doing unusual and difficult designs, they look great! Plastruct is always worth investigating as they have a huge (really freaking huge) plastic product catalogue - and a lot of ebay sellers now sell varioous bits of plastruct at reasonable prices. I like this contradiction: "I have used the GW spray gun. Very useful, saved a lot of time... ...as I had a couple of problems with the spray gun so they will need redoing" The GW spray gun is awful - do not spend any more time or money on it and invest in a real spray with compressor. Speaking from experience it really is the best option (it may seem a lot, but those cans of air soon get used up). Throw your GW spray in the bin - I did earlier this week and feel much much happier. (for a link to some evidence: commissar.proboards.com/thread/11641?page=1 )

Now I can see. The digital camo looks great, have to try that myself someday. And after painting that plasticard is also OK. For the tracks I would go with black then heavy wash with some muddy browns (or pigments if you use them) and then a light drybrush with boltgun or chainmail.

Probably keep the black for the treads. I love the color scheme and digital camo, and for the textured hull I kind of want to steal that idea... I may just steal them all together because they match my color scheme almost perfectly.
Awesome job, I love it.

About the digi-cam: Keep it as it is, and if you really feel like you have to ad something use a "real" grey. Right now they look primed for city-fighting, and brining in browns or greens would only ruin their good looks! And one question: Is it ordinary masking tape that you have cut out or is it the hobby-version?
