To be honest, I feel sorry for GWs position when it comes to their trademarks. As the law stands, they HAVE to aggressively go after all possible infringements with all of their power, or they stand the very real risk of losing control over their IP. This is due to the horrible way that IP law is set up. If they let anything slide then anyone they go after in future can say "well you let those guys do it" as a defence. And what do GW get as a reward for doing what they are pretty much legally obliged to do to protect their companies valuable IP? Everyone thinks they are a bully because they are "picking on little guys". Well, they have to or when a big fish comes along they will be gobbled up in seconds. The same thing applies to any big company with valuable IP, such as Disney. They HAVE to go after every single infringement they can, or they may lose their IP. ...the slightly more elite human grunt will always be a STORMTROOPER. Bah, to me they will always be the Glory Boys, swooping in and stealing all of the credit. Useful though.

Sadly, that is the truth about IP laws. It's just ironic, because of how many "ideas" GW has borrowed from pretty much everywhere over their history.

Yeah, Imperial Guard and Stormtrooper are impossible to trade mark, as both are historical terms. I heard someone suggesting that the name change was due to the famously litigious Disney now owning the Star Wars brand, and GW being scared of action. This made me laugh, as there is absolutely no way that anyone could prosecute a case on Imperial Guard or Stormtooper. To be honest, Astra Militarum has sort of grown on me over the past week. I think that how successful the name sticks is dependent on the power of the new codex. Too powerful or weak and people will lash out, with the name being an easy avenue to show dissatisfaction. Get the Codex in the Goldilocks zone, however, and I feel that general acceptance will be much easier. Indeed. Ah for the days of Rogue Trader when, none other than Rick Priestly, directly cited--in the BRB--that Star Wars was the inspiration for 40K. Over-litigiousness has ruined so many things. And GW getting schooled in court over "Spots 'teh Sphess Muhreen'" as well as the Chapterhouse partial loss (which has likely screwed 'Nid players out of having a drop pod equivalent) has probably caused their in-house parasites legal team to scream at the design team to rename everything that has been historically established so as to be able to defend IP and exclusivity/ TM disputes in the future... However, to me the common human grunt will always be a member of THE IMPERIAL GUARD, and the slightly more elite human grunt will always be a STORMTROOPER. And "hot shot lasguns" will always be HELLGUNS! Freedom. 'Murica. Pew-pew-pew. teespring.com/borntopew

I kinda like some of the Orgyns (the ones with the wife beaters and red Ripper guns would fit in perfectly with my 'Chans and horde of 2nd edition metal Ogryns), but I much prefer the Forge World Hydra kit, although the new all plastic one isn't bad.

I'm loving the new kits, although the bullgryn with the moustache isn't me favorite. As I don't have easy acess to forgeworld models I'm really looking forward to the new hydra model.

The Ogryn kit looks pretty good, with the option of making heavily armoured looking ones with shields, tank treads and moustaches and others that look stripped down, like Catachan jungle fighters. Seems like a good choice of parts but I don't like the bullgryn cc weapon, I'd rather have ripper guns.. Those shields must give the bullgryns a crazy invulnerable save.

septic peg looks into her crystall ball and predicts:
*overly tranced out mysterious voice*
"new OP Imperial AA to accompany more OP Imperial Flyers in near future.
other races can take flyers or AA but they will all die in the face of awesome imperial (sorry, astra something or other) weapons of super crazy power..."
urrgh.. where'd that come from?
(ps - septic peg is another name for mystic meg, the old crazy fool who used to be involved in the national lottery in the uk - you tube her and laugh!).
...the ogryns, well - they've never been contestants for beauty game shows!.. liking the shields (it was a rule design I gave my Rat Ogres in the 40k skaven codex I wrote and it cured the problems of bulky assault units in a shooty sci fi setting).

I like the Ogryns but the Bullgryns look weird. I also am not sure about the open topped part of the hydra. I hope that they don't make them open topped.

That was my main concern when I saw the tank, if they do it better get a hell of a lot cheaper! If theirs no way of enclosing it, then thats the Hydra screwed IMHO I don't mind the new ogryns/bullgryns but I hate the paint scheme!

I like the new ogryn. More realism than the ogre type ones but still with some cartoonish whimsy. The concept of bullgryn is cool but the actual minis look more like skitarii than ogryn to me.

wow those girls look cool!
I've already got som eof the shadowforge girls and they work well but have guns which are to scale rather than the over large 40k guns.
the victoria mini's look superb!
please keep the prices high GW: it makes it so much more viable for other independant companies to enter the market!

Actually there's a thread in the paintings and conversion boards where Victoria Lamb posted pics of her penal legion sets, when they were first released. This needs to be photo-shopped!

im definitly getting a turox transport and one maybe two sets of ogryns... then constructing them so they look nothing like the leaked pictures.
i really hate the tank track armour... they look way too upright and remind me of the centurion armour... but that mouctache head is so getting binned.

Cant say I like the Ogryns at all. There too clean and uniform. Too symetrical. And aside from the one head, they look too "new" not enough scars, implants, jagged jaws and crooked teeth. They no longer have the stone hardened faces of ogre's in space, but more derpy "sloth" (Goonies, not the animal...) faces. I don't know, will have to make final judgement once seen in person. That color scheme is not helping either.
Hydra looks good.

Ashot, I am curious to see if even your awesome skills will be able to transform the Taurox into something that isn't nauseating to behold. I wish you the best of luck with that project. Wait... Taurox. Taurox... TAUrox? TAU! TAU! IT'S THE TAU!!! Our beloved Imperial Guard are being infiltrated by filthy Xenos!!!
