Howdy folks!
This thread is a continuation/changing-tracks of the "Special Operations Guardsmen" thread I created some time ago in the Painting and Conversion board. Only now it's time to start taking pictures!
The last time I posted on the forums was a LONG time ago. Such is life in the American school system -- it sucks your soul, your wallet, and your hobby-time dry! And while college plods maliciously along as ever, I'm trying to accommodate for more Hobby time for the remainder of the semester. Personal crap aside, I've got pictures!
This first shot is a close-up of my prototype Special Operations Guardsman. What with the release of Militarum Tempestus in the next couple months here, this guy might be the first of my Tempestus allies! We'll see how sharp the codex looks, of course, and if it's nonsense then he'll be a veteran or stormie. I've had the bits from various companies for a while now, but the other nine will require some kind of greenstuffing to complete, so I haven't assembled them yet. As it stands, this guy needs flash/mold-line cleaning and some greenstuff modelling work that all of the guys will get.
You might notice my favorite recent paint-job in the background...
This here is my freehanded graffiti decal for my Leman Russ. The fluff for my army tells the story of a planet laid-siege. The elite reconnaissance regiments, who had returned to the planet to have their ranks replenished, get trapped planet-side for a grueling five-year occupation. As such, my infantry and tanks will fall somewhere on the sliding scale between Elite Operators and Guerrilla fighters. This particular tank, Fool's Waltz, received an affectionate tagging (a nickname perhaps?) from the beleaguered defenders. I think I'll throw a link at the bottom of this post to the original thread in the Painting and Conversion board.
This vehicle is also my first attempt at weathering, rust, and freehand decals.
Another shot at Fool's Waltz from the other side to get an idea for how the weather and rust looks without the distracting decal.
A final shot of the prototype operator and the Russ together.
Here's the link for the original thread, which has more information on my goals for the army and inspiration photos:

Another link to my thread with shots of my regular guerrilla infantry and assorted allies:

REMINDER: Please do not post in the above two threads. They're both a long time dead, and I don't want anybody yelled at for Necromancy.
I've got some green stuff and bran-spanking-new modelling tools coming in the mail tomorrow or the day after, so we'll see if I can get the other men assembled. Till then, comments and critique are welcome -- let me know what you think!
