Excellent. Were you just using what you had painted?

Painted plus a white coated dev squad comes out to an even 500. Orks had about 40ish boys some nobs, warboss and three deffkoptas.

I like your highlighting and shading. How long does it take you to detail a figure beyond the basic colors? The time expenditure is one reason why my models are so crappy, I just like to get them on the table and have done.

It is hard to say as I paint in batches. I just started a commission paint job and I am keeping a detailed log of time spent. I can post a pic of it when I'm done and the time it took from start to finish if that helps.

I would also say that the time consuming part is not the detailed painting, it's the time and effort that goes into learning how to do it. It probably takes me about the same time to do one of these now as it took me to paint a crappy model 10 years ago. My suggestion is to try one new thing per model/squad. Try a wash or a highlight. Pick out a new detail. Then add that to a new one on the next unit. Before long you're making huge overall advances!

Beautiful LotD squad.
Was this the commission? Why did they choose flamers, that's a waste of their special rules!?

It's one of the commissions. I also did a 2000pt GK army. Have been contracting with Frontline Gaming out in CA. Land Raiders

They look very fiery. I like how that colour scheme goes from red to orange to yellow.

They look fabulous, Mccaptain. Is the black helmet striped marine with the auspex a sgt?

He sure is. Break down of army heraldry:
New Marines (devs) have double black shoulder pads.
Eventually a dev gets promoted to Tac squad and receives a squad heraldry. This will be the squads colors on the trim of the right shoulder pad.
When promoted to sarge, he gets the black stripe on the helmet and is given his own dev squad.
When it is deemed that he has been appropriately seasoned he is made a Tac squad sarge and is honored with the units standard (banner on backpack, and why dev squads do not have banners).

Also, the squad heraldry is stripped when he is moved to being sarge of a dev squad. This is to remind him to lead with humility and to be ever aware of the hubris that comes with being an Imperial Fist.

Interesting that you're taking no assault marines at all for the company. Are you going to add 1st company veterans eventually or just focus on the tactical and dev squads from your company?

It will have scouts, tactical, devs, and terminators.

That's what it's designed for--in conjunction with the Micro Set, Micro Sol melts the decal down so it conforms to just about any type of irregular surface. I've yet to encounter a situation yet where it hasn't worked, although you may need to hit the decal several times for optimum effect. Yep...that's what I do too. I use the Micro Gloss instead of Ardcoat for the first layering. Try to keep it in the decal solution family! Great looking Fists...I always wanted to do the yellow but it is a real bit** to get it right. For me anyways...

Wow! A whole army with forge world torsos. Excellent camo and the Stormlord is supreme; great weathering too.
