So the Stormfang flyer kit is on the shelves. I saw it at the FLGS when I popped in to grab WD. I was in a rush, though, so I didn't have time to look at the box... That's why you weren't struck blind by it's hideousness.

TBH, I don't think it looks that bad from what I've seen so far... This on the other hand:

I like the dreadnaught thing. Well, the options, not the weird bare head thing.

Murderfang is Blanka, from Street Fighter!

Muderfang's rules are pretty nasty, but the face bit is hideous... The 'shop with Murderface was just too hill. Air. Eee. Us.
The SW Dread kit does look pretty sweet, and it's neat how they moved the heraldry that used to be on Bjorn's banner to his sarcophagus. I may be having to pick it up at some point (although I've got a partially painted metal Bjorn kicking around, but it's missing the banner and I modded some armor plates onto it).

You'd think that would have to be a metal model.

Just checked GW's website, and yes, the face is... amazingly bad. Also, the dread in the background of the splash image wielding an axe almost as big as it is hilariously silly.

Dat ams a "Fenrisian Great Axe." Murderface's "Murderclaws" are made out of unmelting alien ice, which is more derpy to me than the big axe. I detect the influence of Ward on that one, and if SW Dread lightning claws end up being called Wolfclaws, I may lose it entirely...

I think Wolf Claws are some other piece of wargear in the codex already, but I'm sure it'll be wolf something.

Unmelting alien ice?
Most of the physical impossibilities of the 40k universe I accept wholeheartedly in the spirit of fun. Unmelting alien ice has just broken me.
Screw you GW, screw you and your deeply derping derpness..

Actually, wait, is it just unmelting, or also unbreakable? Because that seems pretty important too. There's also a joke in there about Xeno ice being Heresy on the Rocks, but I'm too tired to make it now.

I assume it's not a very breakable substance. Although then surely it's more akin to crystal than ice, a state of solid matter which is aesthetically similar to ice.. I dunno, I just wish games workshop would broaden the space wolves from "they probably call it something wolf or I've related"

Transparent aluminum.
Or wait... Star Trek didn't get that right either, since that's just clear sapphire.

They are described in the wargear entry as "fearsome claws of enchanted alien ice" and the entry goes on to state they can carve through flesh and armor with equal ease (AP2). In the kit description: "Murderfang's claws are made of alien ice that never melts, even in the heat of battle." So yeah, magic, super-strong, unmeltable alien ice...

Oh, and apparently Murderface Murderfang was found wandering around on a planet called Omnicide... (I'll just let that sink in for a moment.) So the SW decided to freeze him down with the Helfrost stuff (apparently it's more than just a weapon) and drag him back to Fenris so they could poke at him with a sharp stick to try to figure out what he was. When they figured out he was a Dreadnought who had gone all Wulfen-y they shrugged, said "That's interesting too," and then froze him again and stuck him in a cave to be thawed out and let loose to get all magic-unmeltable-alien-ice-claws-stabbitty as circumstances may require...

ok so in a universe and law were people fire lightning bolts with the power of their mind or summon demonic entities from something called "the warp" your worried about an unknown alien substance like ice which is unbreakable, just saying lol

Yeah, I could see some kind of nanotech ice being a thing. Instant unbreakable material, just add water.
I would totes build a Fortress of Solitude out of that.

how about this concept regarding the 'alien ice'... The wolves have found some clear crystal stuff that they have misunderstood due to being, er, wolves and have named it to suit their legends and perspective toward everything.
this is still lame as players shouldn't need to come up with long winded explanations for wargear etc, but hey, we have melta and plasma guns, and these weapons are almost as tall as the humans that carry them and they fire super-crazy munitions which make little sense either.
ho hum..

It's not the ice part that's a problem. It the xeno-tech heresy part.
Also, it's the super-derpy description part. And that's the greatest heresy of all.
