Hello! I'm waking myself from hibernation for a little update again. I've managed to aquire a nice lot of Tallarns along the last year, so this prjoject has now grown a bit from a side project to my main project at the moment. I've got these rough raider guys painted at last and in addition two basic squads: (herese only one, the other is basically identical, they have no squad insignia yet) I've also got squad of three fully magnetized hellhouds/banewolfs/davildogs and a chimera painted and ready to go. I'll post pics of them with the next patch. On the painting table I have waiting: 1 Baneblade 3 Leman Russes 2 Squads of 10 troops 2 special weapon squads w/ greande launchers 1 squad of 3 missile launchers 1 squad of 3 autocannons 5 meltagunners 5 officers incl. Al-Rahem 2 Sentinels I'm trying to aquuire a couple of basilisks, Manticores and some more chimeras to get a fluffy tank army out of these.

Wow, I like! The uniforms look warm and bright, and the detailing on the cloth really stands out. How are you doing the Sentinels -- 2nd edition, modern, or Forgeworld?

Great work matey, painting is spot on. I'm looking forward to seeing the Baneblade and Russes, are you going to keep them as they are or 'desert them up' a little?

I'm also trying to make a tallarn unit. I'll have them based around a stormlord, maybe two. Like monstrous ships of the desert. They'l carry the platoons and heavy weapon teams. And I bought 6 vehicles from Aliexpress that bear a remarkable resemblance to Tauros Venators. I'm going to convert them to be proxy tauroxes (so need to slightly widen and extend the cabin area.)They will float about with Spec Weapon teams. Bought a dozen Arab heads for the crews too. May throw 33 Sentinels in with it.
Now I love the Tallarn rough riders but I'm not sure how they'll fit with the overly mechanised theme of the army.
There are some cheap ones on ebay right now and I'm in two minds as to whether to get them or not.

Ah! Thanks for the comments! Here's some pics of the hellhouds. I try to add some extra detail to them when I find something nice. But now they are fine enough to take to the battlefield. The pictures a linking to larger ones, if you want some more detail. How are you doing the Sentinels -- 2nd edition, modern, or Forgeworld? I gonna go with modern ones, with some desert modifications. These are the two current WIP's. ATM the riders only have scarves added with green stuff, but I'll try to find some fitting stowage to add to them. Great work matey, painting is spot on. A Stromlord would be a nice center piece IHMO too. Also it would have enough room for my whole army to go in it. But as for now I have to go with the Baneblade, because it came with the Hammer of Cadia tank box. I would love some Tauroses also! Too bad they're so expensive. What toys/models did you use for yours?

I got some models that look remarkably like the forgeworld Tauros Venator here www.aliexpress.com/item/ELYSIAN-TAUROS-VENATOR/32269973045.htmlI haven't built them yet but the parts look good enough. One of the six arrived with a missing rear wheel and some other small bits but Aliexpress were quick in giving me a refund without me having to return the vehicle. So I'll turn it into a terrain piece if I cant recover it. GW are getting the fake FW traders on this this site closed down so I'd snap them up quick if you want them.

Just out of interest, whereas there has been a Catachan codex and add on codex supplements for Elysian and DKOK, has there ever been anything similar for a Tallarn army?
I've found the special rules for the Mukaali creature. They don't interest me much to be honest. I've also fished out my old 4th Ed codex where the Tallarn have their own doctrines.
In case anyone is interested here they are.
1 Priests Can have up to 5 but 1 must be allocated to Coy HQ (only 1 Coy HQ was allowed in 4th Ed). The remainder go to all Pl HQs and any remaining must then be allocated to an infantry squad. His unit may re-roll any failed "to hit" rolls once when they charge so long as the priest is alive. His unit MUST charge in the assault phase (so long as there is an enemy unit to assault) and cannot fire heavy weapons at all.
2 Hardened Fighters Add +1 to their WS. Sentinels Gain +1 attack due to chainsaws, rams, other improvised nasty CC stuff.
3 Rough Rider Squadrons Similar to now but a few little differences. They had to pay points for a lance to add to their pistol and CCW They had "Fleet of Hoof" and all squad members could have melta bombs (nice), not just the Sgt like the current codex. Also any rider could swap his pistol for a Lasgun or Shotgun (also nice).
4 Light Infantry Rolls an additional dice to determine distance moved through difficult terrain. Can infiltrate. May,if part of a Platoon, swap a heavy weapon for 1 sniper rifle (like they can now anyway). Cannot be mechanised or take Carapace armour.
5 Sharpshooters Any BS3 infantry may re-roll a "to hit" roll of 1. Does not apply to plasma gunners or snipers.
Their preferred special weapon is the Plasma Gun. Their preferred heavy weapon is the Missile launcher. Not sure how that has an effect on the use of these weapons in the game itself though.
Their entry in the 4th Ed codex mentions that they are mobile guerrilla fighters, evasive and opportunistic. masters of Hit and Run Ops. Very well known for the hard fighting Sentinel Squadrons. Accomplished riders, marksmen and ability to stalk an enemy.
So based on all that if a Tallarn codex or codex supplement were to be created what should it consist of and include?
