I should really paint my Kasrkin models. Yes you should, we all must keep going to the end!

emptyhat You should! They are a lot of fun to paint. They are more detailed than the regular cadians, but none of those details is really fiddly so they are very forgiving. YMMV ofcourse Major Downer Painting those goggles/lenses was a lot easier than I expected, the surface area is pretty large (compared to say, marines, regular cadians, & tau). The only downside is that due to the way the models are posed, you hardly ever see the goggles.. the helmet throws a shadow over it, so you have the tilt the model to properly see it.

Started messing about with plastic card to build some track guards for my vehicles. Decided to build a replacement for a broken gunshield whilst I was at it. Now to think of something to to with the barrel so I can use it as a medusa when I feel like it.

Very nice on both fronts! I really wish they still included the track guards for all vehicles, they look so much better. The make shift gun shield is solid too, definitely still fits with the theme of the guard artillery.

So I haven't posted much lately... but I have been steadily painting guardsmen; closing in on 150 tabletop standard guys based and ready to go. I also decided to name their homeworld a while back, and might actually write some fluff for them at some point. For now they are the 22nd Komoran Battlegroup, and they like puppies and long walks on the beach. Having finally played the new edition and fielding a commissar for the first time I decided to get to work on the Officio Prefectus detachment that is to supervise the masses of Komori Infantrymen. I decided to do some minor conversions (or repairs) on each one to personalize them a little bit: The picture is as clear as I can get it at the time.. but I should have time to start painting them tommorrow so I'll try and get a better shot then.

150!!! I don't think I've painted that many in my life! The conversions on the Commissars look good, good luck with the painting!

Very nice conversions, I especially like the one on the modern commissar model (I have I think 6 of him and no idea what to do with the models).

Thanks, painting is going alright: almost all of the basecolours are blocked in and I've started shading/highlighting. Won't have a chance to continue working on it untill tomorrow evening though. Swalker: I'm quite pleased with how that turned out myself. after cutting of the little nub that slots in the original model the arm went on like it was made with the new model in mind.

Swalkerfour: For what it is worth, I like Commissars in 8th. Really good for holding the line though I am not sure what the value statement is on their price in points. I know mine kept a key flank secured WAY longer than it had a right to and that accounts for something. ALSO: Nice mods Nutty. They look fantastic.

Thanks Yeti, they have been basecoated and received some shading, and after that I set them aside and forgot all about them. :/ Might get back to painting them once I get through my current batch of night shifts.

Uhmm.. it took me less than a year to update this thread, so I have that going for me. Three infantry squads (sarge, plasma, 8 lasgunners) base coated and shaded. With a bit of clean up and some high-lights they will hopefully be ready sometime this week. Which is nice because today I received the final items needed to build the artillery crews for my heavy mortara, so I can get started with those.

Nice work Nutty, loving the desert bases on those Cadians.
Can't wait to see those heavy motar teams, ready pound.

I've made a mold and am slowly making the torso's for the artillery crew; so they'll look similar to my Wyvern crewmembers, I'll do a batch up once I have 9 torso's ready.
In the meantime I've painted these little guys:
They still need varnish and some tufts of dried grass, but they're mostly done.

I like the way your camouflage works. They all look really dusty and blend in well.

I haven't felt much like painting this year, so I decided to make things up a little: I haven't quite decided what colour I want to paint the gun though, it's shadow grey right now and it seems a bit boring. I might try the old-school red casing, or maybe a green... Any suggestions are welcome.

Good job on the Vindicare, personally I think you can't go wrong with a green gun.
I'm hoping this will give you the painting bug and we'll get more frequent updates!

What grey do you use for the highlights? I've always found highlighting black to be a pain in the backside.
GW always have this grey/dark blue highlight which I can never figure out.
I look forward to seeing him on the base, will you use him in games?

I look forward to seeing him on the base, will you use him in games? I got a low point game coming up against a new player next tuesday, so I'm thinking I'll use him during that game. No clue how these guys perform on the table, and I'm basically bringing a bunch of random stuff anyway.. so I'll throw him in the mix. As for the painting: painted most of it 'The Fang' mixed with 'Abbandon Black', after that I layered > 'The Fang', > 'Thunderhawk Blue', > 'Fenrisian Grey'. After that I gave it a light wash of 'Biel-tan Green', redid the the 'Fenrisian Grey' highlights because they turned very green, and than washed it with 'Drakenhof Nightshade' So it was a bit of an experiment, but I quite like how he turned out.

He looks great.
Looking forward to seeing him based and ready to deal death to the enemies of the Emperor!

Just as a test: I'm trying a new photo hosting site and I wonder if these work.. but the assassin does have a base now, and I ended up going with a red gun. Hardly stealthy.. but it looks nice. The pictures are bit crappy though, I might have to look into building a lightbox. The light in my new room is a bit odd, it's a pain in the rear to take a decent picture.
