Might not dump LotR anytime soon. with the new movie "the Hobbit" coming out they will have to field a new line on that. dwarves, Elves, worg riders, trolls, etc... Not to mention Smog the dragon

Bah, nobody plays LOTR anymore anywho. I heard some guys talking about how most of the time its only 10-14 year olds who play and they always whine about it when their fav. hero gets smoked. Its true I guess.

i've always have hated LOTR it takes up space on the shelves at GW stores that could be better used for 40k minis

I like lotr the books etc and I like the minis but I haven't ever wanted to play since it is what the younger players go for. Maybe if there was a d&d/heroquest game using the minis and the IP it would be appealing to older players? I would like something lotr but the current game and average age of player isn't appealing.

Yeah, lotr has really got its hold on younger players though. It was real cool when the movies were rolling out into theatres but, now its just meh...

It'll die out soon enough, I promise you. LOTR was big news when there were new movies coming out. It's meh. I agree.

Well its still pretty popular around here with the kiddies. They seem to enjoy it, even girls, they go omg, legolas!!! Then when they are confident enough in their gaming abilities they move on to the bigger stuff, like 40K, thats how me and my friends all started off.

Meh, if it means more people to game with when i get back to civilisation, I'm all for it. This country has nobody to play with, and all my minis are in storage anyway... The chances of GW going bust are slightly lower than those of 1. The second coming of Christ. 2. Reasonably priced Videogames 3. PC games developers not trying to gouge the consumer with overpriced games and having to spen a (expletive removed) on upgrading your PC 4. The second coming of the British empire. 5 romania winning the rugby world cup.

right for all the doubters out there i started this thread as a think piece to get people to take stock of the fact that gw is a stock maket controlled company, and is at the moment on a slump, "fact" check the f.t or other reputable stock market reports, 2ndly it in that slump because of lotr regardless of how mant players there are just think about how much they have had to pay for film rights and still do even though its popularity is on the slide "fact" though gw is a big company many others have gone bad before can we all say "atari and sega" . though they still exsist, they are a shadow of there former selves, gw and its shareholders are not a charity if the invetsers are not making money they will close stores "fact" and i suspect the over seas market would be first for the hit, so what i was trying to say is if you want to keep the hobby alive spend money in store not online if you can avoid it, do you think the prices have been set by any one other then acountents, and as other threads have pointed out maybe they've set them just a little to high. i wanted a discussion that if a gw senior member floated through the site and saw the thread they can go " so the customers are aware of the financial problems we are in and they recon xy and z would get them in stores spending more cash" therfore saving the buisness and our hobby

I think GW is fairley priced, I mean, £18 for 20 guardsmen. I do hope there will be a second British Empire.

I think GW will make a killing with Apocalypse, because you can mix armies and just buy the any figures you want.
Think about it - if you want to make up for your armies weak points then instead of sitting down and trying to work around the problem you could just go out and buy a few units from another army that does the job. Power gamers dream.

Bah...power gaming!!! Evul! I can see how it can make up for it, but I can also see quite a few problems coming from it. However...I think I'll pick up some space marines to fight along side my guard...What?

I aleays thought commissars weren't vulnerable to corruption and betrayal... I stand corrected. Though Guard really don't do well with auxillary space marines. The two are too similar in style. Get some inquisitorial stuff, that way you can use it in 'normal' games as well. Arco flagellents are good at counterassault.

What corruption? We're both imperial, why not have some extra comrads, and inquisition scares the hell outta me. Their like the secret police of the 41st millenium.

I'm not afraid of the inqusition. (Darksides:You are) I am not. (Yes you are) I am bloody well not! I've killed enough grey knights, inquisitors and space marines to last a lifetime. (Inqusitor Volker will be next, unless he is particularly lucky.)
But remember all. If you can see me, my artilery can see you. If you cannot see me, then I'll see you in hell.
