ah ok, thought they were freshly assembled. nevermind then and thanks for your honesty. taking the .3 off your tally.
behold, today I will assemble and build a sentinel! by the end of the day I will post a pic of not one, but two sentinels (one which has been around completed for a long time so you can see it's a new one for sure) to prove that I have indeed manufactured another in my amazing bedazzling line of cadian army models!!!11!1

bam I scored myself 4pts for this one (3 for paint, .7 for assembly, .3 for quality (though the wash is still wet it'll dry and look sweet, plus I really kept in the lines and the paint job is super clean and not sloppy)). ***paintoff news alert*** turtleboy passes knight and is now in 3rd place!!

@ twerd Look on these gigantic mold lines on the wheels. They are not THAT huge.. just shows really huge in the pics.. in RL you barely notice them still since the bronzing came out so dark aged.. No painting tonight.. got a massive 3k point 4 person game tonight after work.. i fear this might go into the wee hours of the night here.. But tomorrow I plan on getting the last 2 cannons finished so that at the very least my artillery section of my NGs is completed.. for now Nice looking sentinals mate.. but what about the bases? One has sand the other has green.. you not going to do up the bases for them? Cheers Gris

nice miniatures/sentinals/cannons etc
im falling behind and i have a question: i got my unpainted aspiring chamion which has been recently assembled (assembly points) but then decided to mount him onto a larger base (cavalry round base) to make it look more scenic and i did a sorta detailed base to go with the terminator lord one, so does this just count as an infantry base with a base bonus, or no bonus at all or what?

It's the model that counts, not the base. Otherwise I would mount all my soldiers on 60mm round bases (heavy weapon teams)

haha
yes, i would think it is the model that counts, but this leads me to another question, dont we get basing bonuses???

I'm fine including extraordinary basing with quality bonuses.
as far as my sent goes, in the pic is (on the left) my old one, and on the right my new one. the reason the flocking isn't on in the pic is cuz the wash was still drying so I couldn't put on the flocking yet. it'll go on and I won't claim points for it - it's just finishing up the model. I wanted to get the pic posted right away though.

Well, i finished up my scarabs this morning (this picture includes the one i already posted) there are 9 new ones in total, same style as my necrons, boltgun metal base, tin bitz drybrush. I painted the wing/leg flaps with tin bitz and a coat of brazen brass and then the snow flock (again sorry for the quality issues) All of them Close Up

how's 10pts total. 9 for the 9 bases worth (am giving these guys a 1pt value which seems really generous since they're so easy and there's not much to paint) then 1pt in overall quality bonuses cuz they do look really nice.
sound fair?
p.s.: a swarm of 10 scarabs!? that's so scary geeze!
***paintoff news alert**** grisnik has been dethroned from 1st place by .found!

Yes that sounds very fair and thank you, i did put alot of work into these even considering they are simple scarabs. And they do live up to what they were ment to be, in a 6 turn victory point game they killed a squad of terminators only loosing about 5 bases, now thats impressive in my opinion. 3 wounds and 3 attacks each, thats 30 wounds and 30 attacks in a 10 base squad, i have to say i love these little guys.

ok heres my aspiring champion, although the picture may not show it I worked quite hard on him and am proud of him, the base is basically just the champion stepping over a rock commanding his squad to advance and/or issuing a challenge to an enemy commander, you may not be able to see the rest of the base so it is just a couple of skulls and spikes and metal chains following underneath the rock to the other side (1 of them has a fanatic ball attached 2 it) and there is alot of blood on it to show the true meaning of chaos sorry about the heaps and heaps to read lol. EDIT: I just realised the mould lines on the backpack and have cut them off, and the helmet doesnt really show but he has green eyes and bluish metal which took a while to get right.

I'll give you 1.2pts on him. there's a bit of color but stuff like the chainmail thing between his legs isn't painted and there's alot of black with no highlights or anything. the base looks sweet and I like the necron head on the pole - very nice!
sound good?

the chain mail does have paint on it, its just the picture/camera angle and if someone will tell me how to highlight black i will highlight it, but black legion troops have just plain black armour like described in the codex. and it was just recently assembled (or was the .2 points for assembly???)

I can see the silver on it.. its a bugger to take photos of.. best thing to do for silver is do the base coat in boltgun ( which I think you did ) do a nice shot of watered down black ink, and then do a faint highlight of chainmail to pick out the details.. would make it show a bit more..
To highlight black can be done a few ways.. I am still experimenting with blues.. mix like 80/20 black with regal blue.. then do a bit more regal blue.. and very thin coats of it.. like add water to the mix until it is the consistency of milk ( i have read this and use it and it does work ).. then just do small layers where the light catchs the model.. and highlight it a bit. dont have to go too high but high enough to make it visible.. places that stick out to me would be the top part of his chest plate, top part of the side of his lower legs.. top of his shoulder pads, and some on his arms.. play around with it and you will see mate..
Cheers and hope this helps.. I primed 2 more cannons this morning, but also have another one I am going to redo tonight as well so will hopefully have 3 cannons done tonight.. and maybe even get my NG BSB finished as well.. all the base colors are done just need to go into detail on him.. layering, highlights, pick out hjis eyes and mushrooms..
Cheers Gris

.2 pts for assembly credited to your score fishki in the future, please state if you're claiming an assembly score since there's no way for me to know if you are painting a recently assembled model or not.
