Welcome to the IGMBs annual paintoff! the rules for this year will be slightly different, however designed to compensate better for quality workmanship.
Here are the scoring criteria:
INFANTRY MODELS
1pt for a model from unpainted to fully painted quality (this includes basing the model).
.1-.9pts for a model from partially painted to fully painted. post a before and after pic so that points can be assigned as appropriate. if your model is fully painted minus one color and you finish that last color, you can expect .1 pts - if you have only a single base color and you finish painting the model and base it, you can expect .8 to .9 pts for the work.
1.2pts for an infantry model w/ medium base (terminators, ogryns, etc) taken from no paint to full paint.
.1-1.1pts for partial painting on an infantry model with medium sized base (termi/ogryns/etc).
BIKES AND CAVALRY MODELS:
double infantry values.
WALKERS AND OTHER SMALL VEHICLES:
triple infantry values.
VEHICLES:
5x infantry values. (note this is reduced from last year - make sure you have a big fat tank brush so you can get that base color on nice and quick and easy!)
LANDRAIDERS AND MONOLITHS:
6x infantry values (they're just big.)
QUALITY AWARDS:
these bonuses are awarded for quality in painting beyond the 'quick and dirty but playable' standards. if you spend time on your models and it shows, then you'll see it in your point awards.
ASSEMBLY AWARDS:
assembling an infantryman grants you an extra .2pts upon completion of the models painting.
assembling a bike/cavalry model grants you an extra .4pts upon completion of the models painting.
assembling a walker/small vehicle grants you an extra .7pts upon completion of the models painting.
assembling a vehicle grants an extra 1.5pts upon completion of the models painting.
assembling a landraider/monolith grants an extra 2pts upon completion of the models painting.
MODELS ALLOWED:
any GW model may be submitted for scores. This is done with the intent of boosting GW sales so they make money so we get more new models. if anyone would like to open it to any minis then PM me and we can adjust things (like if you're specifically wanting to paint minis for another game or something).
JUDGING RULES:
I'll be the judge and award all points, if anyone feels I'm not being fair, PM me and I'll take a look at it with 100% objectiveness and re-assign points if I conceed that I'd overlooked or misjudged something. if you're still not satisfied, take it up with Woz or Goddess of Darkness, who have 100% authority to oust me as the paintoffs judge and assign whoever they see fit as the new judge.
the judge may not win anything from the paintoff period. the judge judges and may submit models and have a point score, but may not win. anyone who serves as judge forfeits their right to claim a prize, even if they are removed as judge and end up winning a prize at the end of the paintoff.
PRIZES:
if you contribute a prize of value roughly equivalent to 1 blister pack or less and you also win the competition, I (turtleboy) will award you the blister (or equivalent prize) out of my pocket in addition to any other contributions to the prize pot I may make. This is to encourage contributions and contestants 'betting on themselves.'
SHOWDOWNS:
showdowns are the method by which contestants eliminate their competition to establish themselves as the winner and last person standing in the paintoff.
at contest start, no showdown may be called before 10pts has been scored by a player.
when a showdown is called, all competitors have 7 days to reach the point level that the leader had at the time he/she called the showdown. if they fail to meet the cutoff, they are eliminated.
example: bob, joe and sue are in the paintoff, bob has 12pts, joe has 4 and sue has 6. bob calls a showdown. joe and sue have 7 days from the date bob called the showdown to get 12pts submitted or else they're defeated and no longer in competition for the prize pot.
contestants may not score more than 10 points per day.
after the first showdown has passed, showdowns may be called any time there is no existing showdown date.
k then!
signups are now open.
so far the paintoff is in signup phase. no entries are currently counting for point awards, however entrants will need to take a pic of their complete army (painted and unpainted) so that if they win, they can post a pic of their complete army as a show of proof of paintingwork. for the winner to claim his/her prize, all paintingwork will be checked against your initial picture post so that I can see all the progress made on your army. if you need to pick up more models during the course of the paintoff that's fine, just post a pic of the unopened blister or box (to your initial entry post if at all possible, but whatever ).
I think that about does it, but I reserve the right to edit the content of this page so as to add fairness as I see fit.
