hope its just as close combat as that guy say it is!
I can just see people shooting and abusing that, but i guess a tactical advantage is always good. Also i saw no cross hair until he was charge at the traitor guard.

I don't think the game looks good at all, it's so un-fluff like (not even a space marine can kill an army of OTHER space marines, traitor or not!)

Eh, dudes... use the bolter to "shoot the guy only to really disorient them" "and once you're up close, you have a tactical advantage over them"...against Khorne Chaos Marines? Three of em??? Yeah.... That game sounds "awesome" -.-
I'll give it some credit for the visuals, the game seems very pretty to look at and the in-game cinematic of the thunderhawk was great but I wish with all my heart that it doesn't see a release. 40k doesn't need more computer games that ruins the fluff. I don't want to come off as a angry nerd but a game like that seems to be aimed at the dumb gamer-crowd and not the 40k fans. Sure it's good to get more people interested in the hobby but preferably for the right reasons.
Also those "cool" finishing moves are going to stop being cool after the 6th time and start being annoying and only get you shot. Ofc, being shot by a bolter apparantly only disorients you...

For you chaps who couldn't see it before, heres a link to Kotaku. Those Chaos Marines look more like Word Bearers to me, who are not khornate but undivided. Of course they are still superior to a space marine in melee combat. EDIT: The bolter isn't loud enough! NERDRAGE.

I'll bet you a dollar he is an ultramarine. EDIT: The bolter isn't loud enough! NERDRAGE. screw the noise, I want to see bodies rupture as they are hammered into paste by fist sized exploding shells! we all know what S4 AP5 does to us guardsmen, it ain't a pretty sight.

I think ridicule an ymmot brought up the best point, that bolter should be turning those trators into a gooey pulp and taking chunks out of the masonry, not making them blink so you can run up and spin them around on your chainsword, which is another thing that ticked me off. I'm not going to duel you or try to impale you with a chainsword, I'm going to use it to unseam you from the nave to the chops, or turn you into the black night from Monty Python's Holy Grail. Either give him a power-sword or I want so see some body parts go flying.
As THQ has put a kinda hush-hush on all of it I'm going to assume it's still in very early development, so hopefully they fix all that.
Also, more gore.

Well, the reason that ultramarines are normally the GW official chapter, is because they are vanilla. Most kids who start off as space marines just need a can of blue spray paint, to quickly model most of his troops. Idk about this game though. As many times as the guy doing the Voice-Over used the words 'Visceral', 'Bloody', and 'Up-close' to the way he began to add tags to the different actions in the game, I just think it makes a space marine look too uber. The way the marine was armoured, he looked to be an officer considering he was wearing no helmet and wielding close-combat weapons. Also, since he was able to wield a bolter (Not a bolt-pistol) with one hand (And still fire it incredibly well without much if not any kick back) I'm going to guess it could be a captain. Even Captains are not that powerful against such numbers. Space marines die just as easily as guardsmen, or any infantry. They take wounds, they die. Remove the piece from the board. But, makes it seem that a captain could charge the board alone and wipe out an entire army... Even as much a fan of the Blood Angels chapter, not even Dante could charge the board and deal that much damage to win.
What this game could do that would be fun would be to make it more squad based, where you still control an individual marine(*ahem* or guardsmen) and interact in a squad, but still function under the ideas of 40K. Taking cover, and firing. Not just lowering your head, running, and firing.

40K RE5 style...
"Drop pod hits crazy warp-hole on the way down, lands on another planet infested with deamons and heretics. You and you squad must cleanse and purify your way to a psychic amplifier so your librarian can contact the chapter."
It would end one of two ways depending on in-game actions: 1. Chapter gets there first - battle honors and such for all survivors. 2. Ordo Malleus get there first - they call exterminatus, and leave you down there so as not to risk that your squad's been tainted; "Oh, sorry Chapter X, they were all gone when we got here..."
