All these messy, run offs are giving me a rash (apart from the original DOW series, that was EPIC). Only 12 year old SMurf lovers will by this purely to play as "the big guy with a 3+ save".

Let me get this straight.......you shot them with your BOLTER to STUN them and then you run up to them and hack them up with a chainsword...........who designed this? Some noobie marine player?

Exactly, the SMurfs have the equivelant of semi-automatic missle launcher, but that wouldn't be fun would it...? (sarcasm)

If you want to shoot someone and only stun them so you can hack 'em up in close combat, shouldn't this game be about Guardsmen/Commissars or Slanneshi Chaos Marines? At the very least, they should have made them Blood Angels or Space Wolves!

It's not even a storm bolter. It's just an ordinary bolter that the guy is wielding one-handed and firing bursts with a higher rate of fire than most low-caliber submachine guns and apparently has unlimited ammo. He should be mulching those traitor Guard with a single shot each and only run into Khorne Marines as a boss or something (for the time being). Then, as time goes on the elite enemies become more common (although are still formidable opponents on their own) and the levels become more unforgiving as new, more elite enemies enter the mix.
The problem with just about every 40K game out there is that it ignores the squad tactics aspect of the game in favor of a single powerful individual (the player) running amok in the enemy's territory shooting everything that moves and racking up a kill count that would make a Berzerker Dreadnought look like a wide-eyed conscript. The only way I can really see such a "one-man war" game really working is if you've got a specific character like Sly Marbo or Kharn the Betrayer as the main player character (of course, I suppose it could also work if you were to use Inquisitorial Assassins). A Space Marine game should definitely make close-combat a viable option, but the emphasis should be on teamwork and squad-level tactics instead (sorta like Ghost Recon, except perhaps not nearly as lethal, so maybe a cross between Ghost Recon and Unreal Tournament, perhaps?).

Nice point about squad tactics. I think DOW I was the only game to touch on that.

watching that video made me think of Devil May Cry for some reason.
i really do hope that's a work in progress, as it has much potential if they can get the balance of the weapons right. maybe they can give you an option at the beginning of what kind of SM you can be. if you wanted a more up close and personal melee combat, you can be an assault space marine, complete with jump pack. or if you wanted the gore to be flying around when you shoot around, you can be a tactical space marine.

that does look a bit better, especially if you do have those other guiys with you forming a squad.

Galatea! You've gone Tau!?
Even with the fixes, I really do hope it is more squad oriented than say, Firewarrior (though it is still the only recent 40k based game to get bolters right.)
While the trailer was cool, probably wouldn't buy this game, it seems more of the rental variety.

Bah, still not impressed. Third person action/shooters will never really scream Warhammer to me.
