Damn. Holy crap! You guys should make a promotional video and show it to GW to play at Games Day Sorry no more gamesdays...First goal with the troops in the early days was the win at gamesday for best costume. We did that. GW is knowing that we are there and trust me they are watching our steps...maybe if they ask us if we could do it again...but otherwise...entrance to the gamesday is way to expensive and trust me no favours for the boys...all would need to pay normal entrance fee...other cons would be way more cheaper in the entrance... a promotional video would only be legal if GW would make it... The first tank we ride on and taking pictures is a pure Leopard 1 Chassis. For me i was told that it was a prototype for a wrecker type tank. For driving there it needs rubber coated tracks which is a lot better then ruining the streets there. The second tank was a M113-1/2 Command and Reconnaissance Vehicle or short Lynx reconnaissance vehicle from the canadian army. A nice little Recon Tank to play with. Also rubber tracks. If you would consider the Leo1 as a Leman Russ and we are riding it take this as a Salamander Scout with enclosed compartment and without the hull heavy bolter *ggg*... And dont forget the Autocannon is a little smaller...We need to put our non working heavy stubber in the mount because the real weapons on this tank needs to stay at home or he wouldnt be at the event (you know strikt firearm laws here in germany)... This event was a blast. And for us and the event it will get better and better...wait until next year..... Im the technical maniac of the Squad and trust me i will have some technical gadgets until the next event... For the Emperor....FOR TERRA !

Wyhat do you guys exactly do? Does these meetings include some kind of live action role playing, cause I don't remember seeing any enemies of the empire there, or do you just congregate to show off with your costumes and take cool pictures? I was just thinkin cause, I think I read somewhere that you don't even play the actual game.

Little correction Cpl.Zim "The first tank we ride on and taking pictures is a pure Leopard 1 Chassis. For me i was told that it was a prototype for a wrecker type tank."
This was an prototype for the swiss army as an bridge-layer. It is not possible to get current armoured vehicles directly from the federal Army (build after the year 1974). The driver on ths pic ist the owner too.
@sgt.Walters: We will force this hobby in the direction of reactment or army display.....No wargaming with fightings, (only for photoshootings) if there are some enemys on the place... Greets Watts

ah thanks for clearing that up. Hmm Bridgelayer...maybe we will see a real one next time in action...the Pioneertank badger was already there in the tank wash...too bad we could drive with that one too...but the Leo1 was really an early christmas gift for us all...
PS: im an active 40K Player so both real live and tabletop combined...

no prob. Of course you are right my Lt. is only into building Imperial real scale equipment not playing any sort of 40K tabletop games...(but he is having the Codex Books and other stuff...i think a builder needs some inspiration and the best place are forgeworld and the codex books from GW)...
I know of 2 others in our squad that are playing fantasy and/or 40k.

I do not know if Watts has any tips for working with composites as he pretty much works only in steel. I have experience working with fiberglass and other composites, feel free to PM me. Oh, and fiberglass is perfectly safe as long as you avoid the matting and use the aviation grade fiberglass cloth.

you can also use Bodyshop Fibreglass, as in Car Fibreglass, its perfectly safe (i use it every day) and extremely strong and flexible kerby

You could use the bodyshop fiberglass, though it tends to have a coarser weave and requires more filling.

can i ask what the point in all of these is? are they airsoft conversions? because if they were i would definately see the appeal as i play airsoft. if not, what do you do with it all? No all the weapons are nothing like airsoft. They are all made of steelsheets and so they are a little bit on the heavy side...and all are non working...thats our creedo not getting into trouble with the german firearms law here...we are staying safe. Maybe my Lt. could say something more about it but it would be good to read through all pages of this thread because there is much answered already. And its more into reenactment... Right now no one else in Europe is doing this and i think in the states there is only one larger group doing Cosplay as a Cadian Squad...but Cosplay and reenactment is real hard to make a difference...cant describe... Im afraid but the Lt. right now and also looking into the future doesnt take any commissions of armor and weapons because he will not do anything to get profit here or he will just getting problems with GW like anyone else trying to sell something with anything GW related ...We have a good relationship with GW so we dont want to take any risk on this...sorry guys. And he is really busy with his normal upcoming projects for the Trupp so im sorry... But onto something special...I think he will post some pics if they are up....our secret mission this weekend was a real success. Complete huge inquisitorial fieldcamp (and all the goodies wait for the pics !!) at a huge german historical military offroad vehicle (so yes also tanks and other tracked things) event. I think he will post soon and you will hear from him...simply amazing i lost my words... Just a few teaser words...Vortex Grenade...Imperial soldiers on guarding duty (from 10pm to 6am)...requireing an tracked vehicle in the name of the emperor and using it to advance !!!....thats all for now guys... My Duty weekend was real hard and i need to sleep...soon more to hear from the germans ;D good night everyone.... to go back on my original point i don't think you can get sued. we have any lawyers in the house?

Ymmot (M.I.A) : thx..... Yes, I think in this use we are save....it is only for fun, the only money flown in this equipment, is the money given away by myself for the material..... all items are selfmade... For use of the weapons (carry the handweapons and build up the the heavy weapons as an display) the military vehicle group which organized the event get ALL permissions of the federal german army, military police and the city of Koblenz/rhine. greets Watts
