@ Aeon- as i recall you can have 3 special weapons in the Special Weapon Squad. I could be wrong about that but i don't think we can have 6 snipers in a squad.... sad cause i had started to model some up... But again, i reiterate that i could be remembering wrong.

Yea I know, 3 specialists and 3 spotters. I was refering to having 2 special weapon squads, meaning 6 snipers and 6 spotters It would suck if they didn't allow us to take 6 snipers total...

Finally, squads. the whole platoon formation was cool, but really seemed like a way of GW to make you buy a junior lieutenant and retinue. and if the guardsmen are only 4pts. they'll comprise only 160 pts. for the required troop selections. and all those free points have to go somewhere. (three squadrons of basilisks anyone?) ;D

I'm not buying any. I will not pay $60 (because you have to include tax costs) for frakking piece of plastic, especially one that can be killed by pulse rifles from the rear!

dose any one have more info on storm troops carrying demo chagres?

I don't think that's an option. Regular storm troopers are assault and special forces, not bunker busters like Krieg Grenadiers. I do hope that they can, though, because it would be totally friggin' awesome!

Wasn't there supposed to be a sniper unit in the elites section, all members kitted out with sniper rifles, range finders etc..?

I think it's still an option for special weapons squads, but I doubt it would be a whole elite choice, that would seem like a bit of a waste of an FOC slot to me. I could be remembering it wrong though, there are so many rumor threads now I get confused. I also may be slightly intoxicated. Furthermore, I may have made a grevious understatement when I said "slightly."

Snipers are awesome, and yes, a punisher squadron would be better than the bassies.
Bigger is better when it comes to models. Not price.

the punisher(is it confirmed?) ought to be pinning. . . it just seems so likely that someone would keep his head down from such a beast, i would.

Yeah, it's confirmed, or at least it seems that way. One thread has a link to a page with the punisher gatling cannon on it.
So let's hope so.

Yeah, the punisher they had in White Dwarf was...less than impressive. I mean sure, it had a friggin 'uge assault cannon, but it was BUTT-UGLY!

I thought it looked okay. What I am unsure if they're making in plastic or not is the executioner, because I really, really don't want to buy any rip of crap from Forge World...

And anyway, scnince when has the guard cared anything for form when function will do? I think the Discusion to start production on those went something like this:
Terch-preist: here is the proto-type you requested, Warmaster. Warmaster: Oh, yeah...yeah. does it work? Tech-priest: the grandmaster requested I inform you it was the ugliest cursed thing he'd ever put a machine spirit into. Warmaster: That wasn't the question. Does it, or does it not, shoot a lot of bullets as we requested? Tech-priest: it does Warmaster Warmaster: good. I'll take ten million more of them this year, and another five million a year for the next 50 years. Teach-preist: [sigh] Very Well , Warmaster.
Yeah , that sounds about right.

I'm just saying if it still looks like a bunch of tubes stuck through a tire I'm converting my own. As for ripping of FW, I'm fine with it so long as the price drops. Come to think of it, is 20 shots at AP - so much better than, say, a battlecannon? I doubt it

Lackey: Commissar, you're command tank has arrived.... Commissar Stabbykilldeath: Good. Have it prepared for combat immediately. We will show those heretics the power- Lackey:(Cringing) Sir, er....., sir, Commissar Stabbykilldeath: How dare you interrupt my pious ranting! Lackey (eyes screwed shut, wetting himself): Sir, it's a Punisher! (Commissar Stabbykilldeath narrows his eyes, glaring at Lackey. Lights fade, and a gunshot can be heard in the darkness, and the sound of a body hitting the floor.)

At BS3....no. heavy 20 S 5 Ap- isn't really that great. abou tthe only thing it does excel at is killing gaunts, which suffer from being low tougness and scoff at the thought ( synaptic spark?) or armor. At BS4...welllllllllll, if the price is right, that can be pretty ok. but if you know you're playing against marines ( or any other T4 Sv. 3+ type of enemy), the battle cannon will almost always kill more over the course of a game. The main attraction of the tank is that a squadron of them really does need a bucket for all the dice it will roll, particularly if each has three heavy bolters and a heavy stubber ( which you always should on this tank. if you're gonna do volume of fire, then friggin do it....) In reality, it's not much better than two squads on rapid fire with lasguns, and will easily enough to have three squads instead. Depending on how the codex is organized, they may still have good uses , though. I'm hoping that's the case.
