There is supposed to be a tank commander that is an upgrade who gives the tank 4 ballistic skill, so he might go well with a punisher, but not just a normal one. I'd put him in there with a squadron of 2 other BS3 punishers to lend a "little" extra fire support to him

I agree that would be fun. and lots of it....but it comes back down to what your bang for your buck is. if a leman russ mbt costs 150+ points, this tank needs cost about 125+ for me to consider it in a serious list.

Hey, if it means paying an extra ten points for boosted armor and being able to fire the main gun while moving, I'll take one or two!
Especially if ordinary rifle platoons are going down in cost...

Sharps, you're gonna take punishers, right? You're all about combined arms, and well, you just can't give up 20 S5 lasgun shots at 24" very easily when you've got that theory

I'll probably take one when a decent kit for it comes out (and I have the cash to spare ). If not I'll just convert one from a bunch of metal wiring if I can find some thick enough. I think it would be really cool if tank squadron commanders had an ability to use their gun as a co-axial weapon for the rest of the squadron. Then taking a Punisher as a squadron commander's vehicle would be worth the extra costs involved.

That would be most awesome, but in order for it to be fair, it would have to be just an insane amount of points.....50 just wouldn't cut it.

What if you had that ability, but the commander was restricted to certain flavors of Russ, like only the ones in the current 'dex and the Exterminator, maybe? If that's the case I'd take a pair of Punishers with an Exterminator as the command tank.

I'm surprised that they didn't put Colonel Snake Stranski in there, although his is only a Chimera commander. But I think he would make more sense, or maybe General Grizmund. They are introducing lots of new characters that have never appeared in the fluff, and that's what irks me. Most characters that are in the codices have been around since the beginning of "40k fluff", and putting them as characters makes sense.

I'm also surprised we don't get Ciaphas Cain, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM!

HERESY!
He's just modest, that's all.
In all seriousness though, in the earler novels and short stories, I'd say yes, he was a coward. In the later ones though I don't buy that anymore, there were situations in which the 'old' Cain would have behaved much differently (maybe all the talk of him being a hero got to his head and he began to believe it a bit?).
Oh, and please don't ruin the newest one, I haven't gotten to it yet. (there's 4 books on my desk right now I'm reading >_< )
