@ redcuffs: while what you say about all those security force types considering shotguns is accurate, you are talkinbg about small scale forces that are not by any stretch operating under normal military needs. While the comment is welcome, it's kinda irrelevent to the idea of equiping armies with shotguns. Such a thing woulod be disastrous if made in field-grade capacity. Having said that, scince vets are supposed to be troops, right now they can take shot-guns. If that remains true, and there's now built in limit on them, it could be possible to do Arbites theme armies with all shotguns. It wouldn't be a very SOUND tactical choice, but it would be there for those willing to shell out mucho deniro for resin shotguns.

Maybe more like $130. Or, if GW really wants to screw with us, $180.

somke rounds for mortars lume rounds as well. And willy pete round that takes away cover savess. And hvy mortars would have been great. Thudd guns would have been nice. Oh yeah, no cover saves, no line of sight, and bigger mortars. Just what we need. The smoke around would have given us a 4+ save. Drop some smoke rounds in front of your tanks that a save every time. Your tanks would surive for longer. Also if we got inferon rounds like the ones in IA 5 can put a hurting on alot of things. If you doubt the use for a 4+ save every turn for tanks. Than enough said.

The "shotguns have got their place" comment was just a point of intrest. If you want your guys to be compliant with the Geneva Convention expanding Ammo from small arms is a No-No. I'd never arm any of my units with shotguns. Not the list I've got now anyway. I feel I have better weapon options for how I use my force with it's current organisation.
Another point of intrest ... For the main guns on many modern tanks there is a round called a "canister round". It's basicly a massive shotgun round and is used for shooting at one of your own vehicles if there are enemy crawling all over it. I remember a couple of times I could have done with a couple of those.

gardsman are worth 1.75 $ US
(35 devided by 20.00$) = (1.75$ X 50 = 87.50$) + (20.00$ for the comand squad) = (107.50$) scale that down to 90.00$ so its cheaper than bying them sepratley
and isent it 10 leamans in the tank box

I would just like to see more enthusiasm on GW's part towards the Imperial Gaurd, instead of Smurfs and more Smurfs.
Really don't they have chapter specific codexes?

Yeah, there's a PDF Blood Angels codex. But we had a separate codex for the Catachens. Look how well that turned out.

On the subject though I really wanted to see squad heavy stubbers, and 'toon wide shotguns, or something like an Mp5.
The only reason I want some squads with shotguns is for path clearing drops from valks.

It's basicly a massive shotgun round and is used for shooting at one of your own vehicles if there are enemy crawling all over it. I remember a couple of times I could have done with a couple of those. Shotguns are very tactically flexible for a front line units in terms of mobility and assault capability. When used in conjunction with special weapons it allows a unit to maximize shooting damage output before charging into combat, thus denying the enemy a potential charge bonus in his round. Besides, if you don't like shoguns, customize your rifles to resemble assault carbines and make them "count as" shoguns in rules terms, as I do. As long as it is clear what they represent, there should be no problem. For the record, no one ever accused the Imperium for being Geneva Convention-friendly. It is a faceless authoritarian regime locked in engagement in multiple fronts with multiple Xenos races and internally facing rebellions and heresy. No reason to lose the napalm then ...

I think you're thinking of some of the hellgun rumors.
I meant I missesd napalm in real life, but come to think of it, napalm in 40k would be awsome! Ariel inferno cannons for the win!
BURN YOU 'NIDS!!!

No i know what i was thinking of. The penal legionnaires have 3 different abilities you roll for. if you roll a 1-2 they get "gunslingers" which makes their Lasguns Assualt 2. pretty awesome.
