also, what is your native language Willem? I like to think that he has a heavy accent from some Welsh mountain village. Suddenly he makes a lot more sense! And that's of course not meant as offensive towards you Willem, your spelling definately gives you character. On topic I would've loved some bikes, it's a pain to be forced to use them as rough riders AND to convert expensive models. Would've been dreamland with human off-road military bikes in plastic, perfect base for conversions. And like a lot of other people I'd like to see more shotguns, especially in the Special Weapon Squad, they'd make perfect combat engineers with demo charges and shotguns. I've played too much Battlefield I guess, but engineers with shotguns sets them apart from common soldiers and look really nice. And heavy stubbers are so needed! Main anti-infantry support in shape of.. grenade launchers? Ever heard of LMG's GW? My poor Veterans miss their close combat weapons too. I haven't read the new book, but they're not there in the rumours. They like their fancy carapace armour though. Something I'd really like is an option, alternative army list or just anything to represent the more primitive regiments of the Guard. Barbarians, abhuman dreggs, backwaters, medievals, feudals, traitors etc. With added options of more close combat weapons (maybe even to infantry squads), shotguns and heavy stubbers, and an increased size of command squads. And maybe some more primitive vehicles added in. And something to make the regiment behave slightly different, maybe different orders to give them Furious Charge until the end of your turn or something like that. All to the loss of some high-tech weaponry and tanks. Sure it could all be represented by the common guard list, but this would represent it better.

Actually, we had a discussion on the LMG issue, and we found that the storm bolter made the most sense for a light support weapon.

Makes sense, yeah. Heaby stubbers are a bit big as standard to be used as LMG's, and Storm Bolters are assault which is bloody more useful in the role of mobile support! Hadn't really thought of it before.

Too bad that the stormbolters are out of the window by now. If you use the old dex the best way to get stormbolters where to upgrade your sgts to veteran sgt. that way you got access to imperial armory, voila stormbolter. I've got a few sgts that will be needing redoing now.
in the new dex the troopers get lasgun, cc weapon and frag grenades for free. And the opportunity to replace their lasgun for free to a laspistol. So it will be possible to make a warrior world army quite easily by know.
I liked the light artillery suggestion earlier, but I think that they are covered by ordinary heavy weapon. A lascannon or AC, to me, definitively are light artillery. Just model some ww1 inspired wheels on them.
What I miss are a light tank option. AC based on a chimera but with no trooptransport capability. Instead we get Av 12 allround.
I miss scouts on bikes or a *humvee*.
I think the heavy stubber should be a SW choice and a assault weapon.

ACTUALLY, we had the discussion and came to the conclusion that stormbolters were to small to represent LMGs. If you'll recall, LMGs such as the Bren, MG42 etc are actually quite bulky and large, as are the Soviet PKM series weapons, as they are designed to lay down high-velocity high-calibre weapons.
Oh, and Forge World agrees with me, as both Renegades and Death Korps Grenadiers can have Heavy Stubbers.

But wouldn't a weapon of PKM/MG42 size be labelled as a general purpose machinegun rather than a LMG? As I see it heavy stubbers could represent these more bulky weapons, and the storm bolter some more high-tech RPK/MG36-sized light support weapons. With armour piercing ammunition.

The MG42 was the first GPMG. A GPMG, or General purpose Machine Gun, is simply a weapon that can be fired from both a bipod and tripod mounting. Most modern machine guns fall under this category. And really, the Heavy Stubber is not much more bulky that a PKM series MG.
And as I said before- Forge World agrees with me on this.

Yeah, I threw together a lasgun and Grenade launcher and made a Drum-fed MG, but I've never gotten to use them....

To be honest I'm content. There's more than enough stuff in the new book for me to convert and try out. I'll only make demands for more in at least 2 years time.

You're definitely right about the heavy stubbers, I just had an idea that a storm bolter could've represented a smaller machinegun that could fire on the move. I didn't know a GPMG was just about the mounting either, thought they were "general purpose" as in being designed to be used by infantry, helicopters, armour and vehicles alike. Maybe the RPK/MG36 sized weapons are more rare than I believed, I'm definitely not an expert on this. Just had an idea, that's all. Though seeing as cadian lasguns are large, powerful and selective fire, maybe a small LMG would just be S3 Rapid Fire in the 40K system. Anyways, you people have already discussed this, so I'll just state that it would be nice with some manner of mobile anti-infantry support other than grenade launchers!

We worked out a weapon: Assault Stubbers:
Rng: 36" S:4 AP:6 Heavy 3, Or it could be fired as Rng: 18" S:4 AP:6 Assault 3.
Much like the suspensor-equipped Heavy Bolter the Saskwatch/Deathwatch have, but weaker, smaller and given to every squad twice.

it would also help represent the guns in the Tanith book where they do an arial assault. except thats a man portable assault cannon (ie: its called the U90 Assault Cannon) and it fires .45 calibre bullets.

Ooh, I love those. I think the stubbers in the fan-made 5th edition list that was all over the net some months ago looked like that.

asalt canons are not cheap
i think it would be grate if we could give one trooper a light stuber or just somthing
you can convert a gun and use the granade launcher ruels saying that that ariea is being hosed down with bulets
i think that hevy wepon teams are great if you use them then the squad can fire sepratley frome the big guns giving diversety
