This february, I visited an old friend of mine. He is really into the hobby, and has a lot of armies, including Iron warriors, Flesh eaters, and 'nids. He also had a lot of Imperial Guard on sprue, but he had never gotten around to paint a lot of them, except 4 or 5 he wanted to use with his, oh, I don't remember their name, some space marine chapter with a lot of skulls and coffins (he is a really enthusiastic and skilled modeller).
Thing was, we had talked about me buying some of the guards stuff off him, since I had toyed with the idea of building a guard army. I was really tired of how my DIY space marines chapter looked, and since the new smurf codex [censored] my list up the [censored], I hadn't really painted anything, except some mordheim models, for more than a year. Well, we live in opposite parts of Norway, and he never got around to send the package, so it didn't happen.
But when I visited, he not only had the whole shebang all packaged up, he didn't want any money for it! Thus, he gave away something like 30 cadians, 4-6 hv. weapons, a LR Demolisher with FW commissar and plasma sponsons, some awesome cadian forgeworld heads, backpacks and gear, a cadian FW plasmagunner, a chimera with FW tank commander, a limited edition cadian standard bearer, two officers, most of gaunts ghost (but not gaunt), two medics, two psykers and three, i think, plasma gunners.
My girlfriend probably somewhat tired of me always wanting to paint (she is a very skilled painter herself, but she doesn't play the game, and is not quite as enthusiastic as me).
My first 40K army was SOB with inducted guard, so I also had to armoured fists and a leman russ, but those were so badly painted I didn't really know what to do with them. The tanks I'm still unsure about, but I badam-blacked the infantry, and they ended up OK-ish.
I also bought a cadian HQ, a hellhound and some elysians missile-dudes (for bits) from FW, a basilisk, some snipers, some eschner-gangers, and colonel schäffers LCs, but I'm not yet quite certain what I want my army list to be. Thinking of two platoons, two vet squads and a lot of tanks, but I guess we'll see.
haven't really decided on a name yet either, so until further notice, they'll be the cadian 26.
I'm a slow painter, and lately I've tried to be somewhat of a better boyfriend, but here's what I've painted so far:
C&C (I'm very tough-skinned), suggestions for lists and names and other comments are very welcome!
