Maybe he broke a rule. Or followed one. And had to shave his head as an act of contrition.
Those robes are sweet man... I gotta practice more for when I do my trenchcoats.

Cheers guys! metcalfedan: He's an old school Space Wolves regiment man from before they were re-united with Russ. He's been re-assigned to the Army regiment because of his disposition to the hairy Fenrisians. He keeps his head shaved because he's stuck in the past and refuse to move with the times. Probably starts every conversation with "Back in my day..." Update I've managed to get hold of an old Mk I raider now to go with my own original Mk I. I'll be combining the two kits to make an Imperial Army land raider to go with the army asap. This really is purely for the rule of cool but by including an Inquisitor in the shape of the Ad Mech Magi I can include one as his transport as long as he has a retinue. The idea of an Imperial Army land raider is just too cool to pass up for this army.

THAT is something that I would love to see! So is that going to be 'true scaled' as well?

It's more biggerised than truescale I guess but once she's been cleaned up it should look really nice. Speaking of which... UpdateThis is a conversion that I first made years ago, chopped up and now I've rebuilt it in it's orignal glory. I've got to strip the paint from the model when I get some more Fairy Power Spray tomorrow and then I'll begin reconditioning the detailing. I'll be streching the links on the track to make it look like it has a single set of tracks. It's not really intended to be truescale, just a honking great lascannon shooting behemoth of death and destruction. I'll be adding an Army tank commander and painting her up to match the rest of the guard elements of the force. This is kind of like restoring a classic car in my mind, seriously old model that I hope will look very cool when cleaned up.

Cheers mate! Update!I've been hard at work on this monster and it's starting to take shape nicely now. I've extended the track links and have begun to base coat the tank. Once that's out of the way I'll start the details, weathering and add the tank commander that I'm building seperately. The paint stripping didn't go exactly as planned as some of the twenty year old basecoat and four layers of paint refused to shift in places. I've been gaming with this tank for over two decades now and hopefully she'll serve me well in her new incarnation. I've decide that I'm going to add a banner to the rear of the tank to comemorate it's twenty first birthday this august. The model was first released way back in august 1988 in boxes of two, hard to believe that the Mk I is that old.

The Rule of Cool
I'm after some ideas here for my army now. I've just started to prepare ten space marines that I'm sculpting to add to this force using the Grey Knight power armoured squad rules. This is purely because I think that it is too cool an opportunity to pass up. Using two Valkyries I intend to drop them along side Enoch and his command squad directly into the heart of the enemy acting as the force spear tip. The Straken rules should greatly increase their combat ability giving them counter attack and furious charge as long as they are within twelve inches of Enoch.
Now I have two options here taking into concideration that it's a pre-heresy force;
1 Adeptus Custodes I can make them as Adeptus Custodes assigned to the army on a secret mission. The downside of this is that the custodes don't leave the Emperor's side but I can get away with this by having them form an investigation team maybe there to locate a webway portal or artifact to aid the Emperor in his great work.
Pros: Easy to explain away the nemesis weapons and stormbolter as I can combine them into one staff weapon.
Cons: Difficult to sculpt (although far from impossible) as their armour is more orante than regular marines.
2: Legion Astartes The second option is to go with regular astartes from another legion, perhaps representing one of the more elite first company squads hence the stormbolters and advanced power weapons. Not sure which Legion they'd be from but they would have to be ideally from a loyalist army.
Pros: Easy to sculpt and will be quicker to make as a unit of ten.
Cons: Hard to explain why they are there and their unusual weapon configurations.
I don't have the codex to hand right now but I won't be using any psyker powers with any of the forces units.
So which route should I take Astartes or Custodes?

I think the custodes would be cooler and make more sense.

The custodes wold be far cooler, have a better background, and would be more of a challenge to construct. Therefore they would be more rewarding end product!

That is a thing of beauty that brings back some memories. In regards to the custodes / astartes question, I would say more of the custodes as you already have the explaination for them and as was mentioned though they would be more in depth conversions / sculpts, I would say it would yeild a more rewarding end product. Besides, with the vagouries of the warp who says that it cannot be a current force that has been lost in the warp for millenia when on a secret mission and have exited into realspace not having lost any time themselves and have a lot of history to catch up on.

Sorry to brig an old thread back but I was googling helmet conversions and this came up.
I love the true scale guard to the point that I am going to do it with my own guard!
What became of this army has it featured elsewhere on the forum?
What is the best way to cut the legs of the guardsmen? A knife?

I am not supporting necrophelia, but to answer your questions, no, I have not seen Doghouse or any further progress on the forums for quite some time. And for cutting the legs, I would suggest a razor saw.

I am not supporting necrophilia. I should hope not! I wouldn't support threadromancy either if I were you.
