I've got 10 now for my Eldar monster army. I'd have to give up my college fund if I wanted any more.

Yeah. You at least have a Vindicare Assassin, unless that model in your Avi was given to you.

On top of all of that. The wraithguard models are put together poorly. Sometimes the parts that glue into eachother don't actually fit. And if they do fit, they're bent funny. I've wanted to do a 30 wraithguard army for a while now, but i just can't get myself to spend all that money. Currently I have 10, and i got them when they were only $12.... lol, only.

@galatea: An Army of paper proxies. It gets more fun than you think @envoy: Go to Google Images, and Search "Vindicare Assassin" it's on the front page

I try not to proxy when I can. The models are too nice!

It's useful though when you want to determine the viability of a unit and whether it will be worth buying.

welcome to the club... more chardonnay?
let us discuss the difficulties of finding good help and of our distaste for filthy vagrants.
ps-I'm not so much into proxies either... but I guess it is a personal choice between you and your game group.

And it's also a matter of parents not letting you buy the models since it's too violent and expensive.....

Ahhh, the kicker.
The game is too violent.
Being expensive I can understand.

I know the feeling. I spent my teenage years watching people playing Warhammer like a Dickensonian Street Urchin watches through restaurant windows as London Society downs roast beef.

Oh wow, that's fantastic. I guess that particular author is a curse word in the 40k universe. Oh well, I never did like Great Expectations. In the grim darkness of the future, there is only Tolstoy!

Hey, my dad took one look at the front of the 4th ed Smurf codex (I had always wanted Guard, and he looked at that too), and he looked at the price. Before I could say anything, he said "No"

Have you tried bugging him about it? List all the wonderfully positive things you get from playing warhammer.
- It's extremely creative. Painting, modelling, converting. - It's a lot more stimulating and healthier than computer games. - It's very social. - It helps you develop a good competitive spirit and a sense of sportsmanship.
And technically, if you're given a certain amount of money a month or so to spend, you should have some kind of freedom to spend it as you like. If you want to pay for plastic miniatures, you should be allowed to. It's always healthy for people to have an enjoyable activity or hobby, it brings you so many good things. Helps to keep you out of trouble as well.

I've been playing for years and I turned out just fine. *twitches*
Okay, the above was a joke, but Makarova's right (wow I'm in an agreeable mood today), there are a lot of things you can learn and enjoy from playing the game. Sure, it's pricey, but compare it other things you could be doing now, most of those are much more expensive.

Playing soccer for example. Most typical parents would pay for it if their child wanted to play a sport (maybe even more so with their son). Wargaming is just as beneficial for your personal and emotional evolution.
