Siradnrewd, you don't like mechanized dev squads?
Five man dev squad w/ two heavy weapons in a parked rhino in cover. Pop smoke, and fire plasma cannons or something, using the sgt's ability to improve the bs of one guy. Cheap, survivable awesomesauce.

Lol Nice but at requiem Devvies heavy weapons are too expensive to do that now footslooging assualt squads with 2 flamers and a rhino that would be interesting

Yeah, I agree with Heltan. It's just not how I'm used to using Dev squads. Generally I park them in a strong position and use them as base of fire while I use my Tactical/Assault squads as my mobile forces. It's worth a try though, I haven't practiced a lot with 5th Edition Marines, Guard is just so much more my thing. Of course, I painted my first Orks today. Not like I'm keeping them though.

I'd take a predator for support.

You Fool! Have it both ways! Magnets for the win!
I'd say it all depends on what you need most.

If you consider the Blood Angels' Rhino, it comes with over charged engines, maximizing the chances of the Transport to arrive at all across the battlefield. Pop Some smoke and then unload some chain sword wielding red devils into the enemy. Attach an HK and even if need be some extra armour, and thats a serious problem for the enemy.
With the imperial guard lacking in Moral tests, even Veterans, using a Rhino Tank to 'Tank-shock' the crap out of them could cause more damage then a Predator. And worst case scenario use the over-charge engines to ram an opponent vehicle.
Predators are good for cover fire and enemy tanks, but when you want to get it done. Put your seat belt on, and press the little red button. Blood Angel Rhinos are the best.

Dirty Pirate Necromancer. I'm calling you out on it this time.
Also, Guardsman fail moral tests - that's why they're occasionally corrupt. Guardsmen fail morale tests - that's why they occasionally run away.

I'm going to get you... and your little Necrons too.
Still, take the rhino and run-over some guardsmen. Its the Space marine way.
