ok, in a 1500pt game. what is your usual tank load out?
1 tank tooled up? 2 tanks? or go the full hog and scare most players with 3
(ps, this post does not include hellhounds/chimeras)
also, how effective would an exterminator AND a demolisher be working in tandem???

I do 3, 2 battletanks with extra armor and a basilisk (with indirect of course). Most 1500pts game don't include enough guns to take out the tanks quicklys

time to squeeze a bassy in.

What i've found the the basilisk is that most enemies seem to divert from their original battle plan to try taking it out. I don't know if that's just the people I've been playing, but they seem to think that it alone will win the game (granted I have been VERY lucky with my basilisk's first shot . So don't be surprises if people try to deepstrike where the basilisk is to take it out. Or skimmers try to shoot at it. But in that case, it's an advantage because it diverts attention from your main force.

yeah bassies are pretty much the games biggest firemagnet. everyone is so scared of its pie.
saying that, most games it has one back its points in the 1st 2 turns really.
except with it got shot on 1st turn (i went second) and was shaken, then 2nd turn swooping hawks came with there grenade (S5 i believe, so yeah 6s to pen) and well..i;ll let you guess what numbers he rolled.

Speaking of fire magnets, 1 basilisk and 1 hellhound in my seems to mean that my 2 russes tend to take almost NO shots till either one of the other tanks is destroyed. Now what I want to know is, do chimaira transports attract lots of fire like that too? I was thinking of trying a tank rush just to see what happens, and I was gunna load up the chimaira with ogryns...But, if the chimairas tend to get targeted lots...No point wasting money on ogryns if they won't do anything!

yes, chimeras do seem to take a bit of pounding, for the reason that everyone thinks it contains troops. so an idea would be to have an empty chimera and a full chimera flying around. or just two empty ones, as they can still lay down fire!
that way for the 1st turn or two your enemy will direct fire at them (expecially if you rush them forward!) keeping other stuff safe

We should gather all the dead bodies from every godamned campaign in the segmentum, throw them at the big red one, and watch as a squad of chaos marines stare up at a huge, not to mention vast wall of dead guardsmen covering the battlefield and well...if u'de watched 300....push the bodies over the marines

Or, to win the game before it even starts, have an ALL infantry army with only platoons, so by the time you're done deploying your second troop choice the opponent gives you the game because they're bored!

2 basilisks, 1 demolisher then a few hellhounds or chimeras with stormtroopers in them.. enough armor to shake things up for my opponent.. only problem is they are beginning to catch on

dont let ure enemy have any oppurtunity at taking out any of ure tanks....if he goes first turn, u better have some well positioned tanks because he'll sure as hell hunt them down.

My army has 2 leman russes, 1 basilisk, 1 hellhound and 2 chimeras. its a 1500 point army but I am thinking about increasing it because I`m concerned I haven`t got enough troops. To be honest, I`d say go for as many as you want, tanks are what the guards all abut.
