ok i have started my Vostroyans back up and i noticed that despite my previous thoughts 40 guardsmen can do a hell of alot. Vostroyan infantry is expensive but a fantastic fighting force. so i guess my question is for those who play with expensive infantry is it realy worth it?

At an average cost of 13.3 points per trooper, in a pure infantry list, I can certainly say that well-equipped Guard are worth their weight in lead-free pewter-substitute. The basic Guardsman's stat line isn't that much worse than a Marine, yet you're outnumbering marine equivilents 2, sometimes 3 to one. Against forces where the enemy's as kitted out as you are (tooled up Chaos Marines, for instance), your swarminess will serve you well. Against forces more swarmy than you, your gear might just prove the deciding factor. It's just a bit of a ballancing act to get onto that fine line where you've got enough bodies to bury a Demon Prince and enough firepower to hold off a zergling rush.

Vostroyans are NOT Lead, GW Stop using Lead in the 90's, They are Pewter, Which melts easier, if you do not belive me, take any GW Metal Now and an Old One, and Try melting them with a basic Ciggarette Lighter, the new and shiner one [Pewter] Will melt quicker

The material from which the mini is made doesn't explain the point cost. It just explains why it costs far more then plastic mini. And could somebody now answer the question how you get a Vostroyan to a price of 10 points? I mean I know the official GW Vostroyan Doctrines, but they don't let a Vostroyan cost 10pts €dit: I know it. I had the wrong doctrines in mind. A normal Vostroyan has cost of 10,5 points if you give him every bonus from his doctrines. Wargear raises the price to even more pts per model

Vostroyans were pretty much just new models that came out for the summer campaign (the fall of medusa five) but many people are continuing thier armies after that, one question though: is thier any way that you can access thier rules? i think i heard thier in an issue of white dwarf but that dosent help much

A normal trooper is less than 10 points, when you dont upgrade the squad with anything, its 60 Points for 10 men, thats 6 Points a Man.

I found expensive infantry to not work, but I admit I tried it mainly vs. orks and that once my buddy suprised me with his armored company list - I didn't try it vs. a non-horde infantry army though, so there may be some merit to elite guard vs that type of army; I can't say from experience one way or another as far as that goes...vs horde armies though, it's bad...stick with cheap guard.
