Anyone else heard of this? From an Ex store Manager I know: Ignoring the superfluous exclamation marks for a moment... if true, this is not good news

www.darksphere.co.uk/index.php10 Guardsmen will now cost 15£ rather than 12. As will all the other boxes like it. Quit the hobby and buy sex toys and LARP stuff anyone?

Right, this is absurd.

Quit the hobby and buy sex toys and LARP stuff anyone? And here was me thinking those terms were synonymous anyway... Thanks for the Darksphere link, too, nice to get some actual numbers on it. AoBR up to £55? Are they insane?

Depends on what kind of LARP's you go to I guess. ;D And being dressed as an elf can be nice in many situations.
At least the battleforces didn't go up, so there's still a (somewhat) affordable way of building an army, but with all the boxes raised by 3£ it's going to be horribly expensive to expand it. I mean, wasn't re-boxing everything into 10-man squads enough?!

Saw this yesterday on BOLS after looking at the new manticore kit. Looks like I'l be spending my next two pay checks rounding out my Marines and Sisters. After that, I think I might be done with 40k until new Sisters are released. Maybe I'll try AT-43. No painting to do there...

This is insane...and utterly pointless...
It's just going to drive more people away from them...

This is only for the UK. The US prices have not changed.

I saw that as well.
It's still early though, so that could change.

Give them time to cross the big pond, they won't forget us or the great white north either. I have been playing since 1986 and I've said this before remember when you could get 3 rhinos in a box or 2 land raiders in a box for cheap or 4 to 6 metal figures in a blister pack.Everyone says that's it I quit no more! But just when you think your done and out, they pull you right back in with something new AND a must have. Its like a very bad relationship minus the rabbit stew on the stove. ;D

Bah, 28mm models are a dime a dozen on the internet. I can still acquire Warhammer and not have to contribute to their revenue stream. And I have a club where no-one cares about non-GW models.
Sod this. I've got mine. GW can go hang.

Part of me hopes this spells the end for GW, as much as I love the hobby... they are some rip off bastards.

This is why I no longer collect or play warhammer. Not helped by the fact that: a) I have so much to do in my time, in terms of my hobbies. b) My family isn't exactly swimming in high finance.

Price rise confirmed, GW source claims due to a rise in the UK's VAT (politicians being RETARDED above all other things).

Price rise confirmed, GW source claims due to a rise in the UK's VAT (politicians being RETARDED above all other things). VAT... is added on afterwards. Their RRP *includes* VAT. All they have to do is add on the extra few pence from any VAT increase at the tills, like every other retailer committed to making prices look as low as possible will do. But, oh no, let's shove 10-15% on every book and bit of plastic for six weeks before the rumoured VAT increase comes out? I call bull on that source's claim.

Actually, VAT is calculated on the store price. You give the total price, which includes VAT. VAT has to be the stupidest tax imaginable. Instead of just squeezing everyone for a few more bucks, they decide to squeeze everyone for a few more bucks and hike inflation! YAY! Also, a 2.5% tax increase does not a 10% price increase make. This could well be the end of GW, if it goes sour.

Whelp, US prices did increase. But I got to keep my delusion for at least a little while.
The price of Assault on Black Reach has been increased nearly 50% since its release.

I'm picking up the Rhinos and Razorbacks this month before the price increase, then I'll just hang on for plastic Sisters. Aside from that I'm done.
Actually, now that I think about it, it might be cheaper to buy some stuff from Forgeworld then GW...

Lord of the Rings must be losing them sooooooo much - they rake it back with 40k and fantasy, but all those designers and sculptors working hard on LoTR for ages must have taken its toll.
