Excellent painting! Gorkamorka... that's really old. Were you keeping them for a special occassion?

No, I've just got quite a few of the old models and forgot how much they rocked.
Although they're not as beefy as the modern day orks, they've got quite a bit of character to them. I figured that since orks come in all shapes ad sizes that they'd fit in an army if the paint scheme was right.
The thinner orks can simply be those that have 'sprouted' and not seen any action yet! And I think the spanners will fit in fine, as it stands to reason they'd be a bit more interested in gubbins than fighting

Brilliand... the only problem I have is the recesses look black, instead of green... kind of makes it look... i dunno... Pasty? but otherwise well done, I suppose practice makes perfect

The recesses are orkhide shade, so very very dark green

3ff3ct, these Orks are looking fantastic! Have you used the Thrakka Green wash on any of them? Back in '09 before my mom passed away, I was working on my Orks, and found that wash invaluable. Unfortunately, aside from an Orkhide shade base, and a Thrakka Green wash at some point, I've forgotten what my recipe for painting Ork skin was... Which is really unfortunate, because it took me almost a decade to come up with a technique that gave me results that I liked. Anyway, these minis are looking great, and I'm eagerly waiting for you to post more.

Bobulus: As always, I'm painting EVERYTHING all at once! So my paint table is crowded with half painted squads etc. I'm wading through them though to clear some room and get them done, and these guys were the first. Once the other stuff is done (coming soon to a painting thread near YOU!) then I'll start on the others, mostly the black reach stuff, extra deffkoptas, gorkamorka bits and pieces etc Trooper One-Nine-Seven-Four: I have abstained from Thraka Green, godly wash of Orkness! It is awesome for orks, although I thought I'd go 'back to the roots' of Ork painting and use Goblin Green with a bit of golden yellow and a dot of bleached bone. Yes, I cheated with the foundation paints (there's Gretchin Green in there too I think). I may wash them at a later date though, as I'm not sure wether they're too light (as mentioned above). I'll see if I still like them when I add another squad to the case in 6 months time! ;D

Awesome Orks!.. I think you are very talented with a brush, and have a lot more patience than I do!
Whaere are you getting the cogs and stuff you are using for the bases.. I 've smashed up a few old clocks and 'pull-back' toy cars in my time, but you seem to have some really nice chunky stuff..is it lego technic?

Really loving' these. Your execution is great. The skin tones are spot-on and the metals are stylized and add character. Well done!

Thankyou! Due to the death of my computer my orks have recieved a bit of attention this weekend, with the skin being done on 7 boyz. With the guys sat on my paint station at home (im at my parents for the weekend) this means I have almost finished my first squad! This is of course more than enough boyz for gorkamorka though....!
I will post pics when they are done and dusted!

Ah cool! Make sure you play a few games though, I forgot how fun it is! I uncovered a digga nob and shaman the other day, although I may have to ebay some diggas to keep them company... THatll be ANOTHER project for the shelf for the time being though! Are you going to attend the meet up? It would be fun to have a game of Gorkamorka if youre going Edit: Speaking of ebay, I bagged myself 10 burnas and some kommandos yesterday, so theyll be on here at some point! Got to love burnas

Thanks bobulus, I wanted to make them a bit scary as well, as I think that orks tend to look more cheesy than anything. I hope Ive managed to avoid that!
My burnas and Kommandos arrived today, so theyre having a dip in some stripper and will probably get started on next week.
