Beta Company, 327th Cadian (Airborne) Got quite a lot of fluff (writing a series!) They're based heavily on the Fallschirmjager and use Drop-troops

Departmento Munitorium - 88th Detachment
Essentially imperial mercenaries with a Letter of Marque from the Senatorum Imperialis authorizing them to act in the Emperor's name to restore order to the far-flung corners of the imperium where Imperial influence has waned. They aren't officially part of the Guard, so they can avoid the prohibitation on owning/operating their own starships... Yarr! We be Pirates!

Hi there, My company is 3rd Elysian Ranger Cy, 27th Elysian Ranger Regiment. They are specialised in infiltration and sabotage... They have become recently Rangers after going through "regular" drop company and recon company...They have evolved after heavy fightings against orks (my little brother's!!!). Fluff in progress when I have time....
I do think that to find a good name is to think firstly of the kind of company you want(infantry, mechanised...), then which planet of origine and the way you would like to play them. Do use your codeces and black library novels and so on...

7th Catachan 4th Rifle Company "Devil's Own"
Named after the Catachan devils that plague 'the green'
At the minute they don't use any jungle fighters doctrine, because of Citites of Death being so popular at the moment. Sharpshooters is the order of the day.
The plan is to turn them into a jungle fighting force which will act as a vanguard. When they contact the enemy they bring down some artillery and air cav in the form of 2 basilisks and 2 valkyries loaded with storm troopers. Valkyries will also provide close air support.

4/82nd Carlyle regiment lead by Colonelette Marikys.... No real story behind those names...I grabbed a few codexs and found some names mixed and matched them and ended up with Marikys. Still trying to think up of a good first name for her

1. Deutschia and the 17. Deutschien Panzerarmee, are my guard army and armoured corp respectively. They are usally backed up by war machines including: Königtiger IV - Which is a mega-long barreled lascannon wheeled around on 90 tons of tank Kaiserhaßen - Giant mega-plasma cannon on another huge tank base Königkanone - Mega Earth shaker, crew run artillery piece, immobile, but can be pulled around Scharfrichter - is not done yet , but will be 2001 points of killing power, 14-14-14 armour, 10 structure points, 5 void shields with the ability to come back on line, 16 hunter-killers, 8 earth shakers and 8 battlecannons, it is about 5 feet long, two feet wide and it currently just some piece of wood in my basement...

The giant board my army is on is Scharfrichter (which means Executioner) The big green tank in the back is the Königtiger (or King Tiger) The Königkanone (or King Cannon) is in the picture, it is on the left side of the photo (within the rest of the troops) in front of a Vanquisher, and behind a Chimera. The Kaiserhaßen (or Emperor's Hatered) did not make it into the photo and it is not 100% complete after a slight accident involving squid that I don't wish to get to deep into.

My guard, the 72nd Tarsian "Warfrogs", called such because of the mounts their rough riders use. Giant frogs. It sounds silly but they can rip a man/super-man/alien monstrosity limb from limb.
Currently havn't decided on a scheme or much beyond the fact that they ride frogs. The 72nd is semi-permanently under inquisition control however, with Inquisitor Starwoof usually accompanying them to battle with a number of crazy things and kroot.

yeah they are, but an inquisitor would still kill a kroot, unless he saw that kroot are really just like humans except they eat things for their dna, have a very basic level of technology, evolved from birds, and more often than not work for tau, then sure he'd love to have some kroot.

I read the Inquo codex, and in the back it has a huge list of why they would attack a given army, included was this about the IG (this is paraphrasing people): -A Guard regiment has stumbled on what might be a chaos artifact and have kept it as a war trophy. The Inquo are not sure on whether or not the artifact has actually tainted the men or if it actual can, but have decided to wipe out the regiment anyways to make sure.
So a possible scenario:
Scribe: Lord Inquisitor... it seems that something that might be a chaos artifact has been left on Cadia!
LI: We must destroy the Cadians to make sure that they are not corrupted!
--Two years later-- <As Cadia burn in the background, the Inquiosition begins piling dead Cadian heros in huge piles and touching the cities. On screen left a chaos portal has opened up, and the entirety of the Eye of Terror is flush with chaos marines, the entire chaos army is marching out of the eye of terror to destroy man kind> Lord Inquo: Maybe we should have thought that one out a bit longer...

12th Kemoanan Infantry Regiment, Brass (1st) Company. And 57th Kemoanan Armored Division, Iron (2nd) Company.
Based heavily off the German Army (Heer). Kemoan is a planet of my own devising, that is most well known for its atmospheric anomaly which prevents sunlight from reaching the planet's surface (therefore making the entire world grey and drab) and its extremely high mineral content. Their high output of metals highly valued by the Adeptus Mechanicus has ensured them constant trade with Mars. They've even managed to wrestle away many copies of STC plans and have started a very lucrative war machine industry. Thus the primary tithe required of Kemoan is not men, but metal and machines. There are ALOT of Armored Divisions from Kemoan. Kemoanan Aristocracy hope to one day in the far future attain "Forge World" status for their planet.
I reflect all this in my men. They're very disciplined (clean uniforms, polished boots), their uniform is drab grey, which makes perfect camoflauge on their home turff, and everything that can be metal IS metal, no plastics what-so-ever. Most stuff is mass produced and with color being oh so non-important to the planet as a whole, they aren't painted. Just kinda stamped out and shipped off. Things such as guns, bayonets, ammo crates, etc.
I've got so much fluff it'll make your eyes bleed. I'm working on backstories for every officer and squad. I have alot of fun. Oh it's so much fun...

sounds interesting alex, got any models done yet so we can have a sneak peek, if so post em up dude Well right now the Kemoanan 12th is all plastic Cadian. They aren't too customized. I represent all their fluff in painting mostly (and none of my guys have their bases done yet ) So they aren't anything special. Yet. I'll post a picture of the command squad (I used the Forge World Commander model and bits from his team, and made a custom standard) and a couple models when I finally find my digital camera. But soon (or 'not-sp-soon', depending on how much is released, and how fast) I'll be working on the Kemoanan 5th Infantry Regiment. They'll all be Death Korps, using a very similar color scheme as the 12th, but looking gritty, grungier, and more "worn in", to represent their extensive service and time in the field. They won't be customized hardly at all.. but.. they don't need it. <sween> Such cool models

B Co., Cadian 551st Light Infantry at your service. B Co. first saw action on Cadia during the 13th black crusade, where they first distinguished themselves by destroying a chaos patrol they had come across while on patrol themselves. The end of the 13th Black Crusade left the 551st at approximately 2/3 strength after refortification and they were cycled out and off Cadia to a remote system on the edge of the imperium to respond to Tau probes. Shortly after the 551st landed, a Tau invasion fleet arrived en masse and locked the 551st and the local PDF forces in a several year campaign. beaten badly and on the brink of breaking, some Dark Angels arrived and turned the losing campaign around, saving the 551st from total annihilation. At the end of this bloody campaign, the 551st was reduced to a strength of 2 companies remaining from the original 25. B Co. is led by 1st Lt. Knoll who recently received the Honorifica Imperialis in reward for marshalling the 551st against the Tau when the regimental commander was killed by a Tau airstrike. B Co.'s commander had long since died so 1st Lt. Knoll was acting company commander at that point. Using his strategic brilliance to keep the Tau from exploiting the overwhelming amount of weaknesses in the regiments defenses that was brought on by the constant losses that their 2 year ongoing fight with the xenos had exposed, rumor existed that there was a trove of lost-tech on the planet that the 551st was unknowingly ordered to defend. After the Tau had been defeated 1st Lt. Knoll was made company commander of what was left of B Co., and they spent their R&R time helping the salvage crews recover wrecked imperial armor from the wartorn landscape. As a gift of thanks, the adeptus mechanicus bestowed a refurbished chimera and leman russ demolisher upon B Co. as well as enough spare parts to last another whole campaign. Taking to space, B Co. trained and reinforced with new men conscripted from Cadia by both the imperium and from the few remaining nobleman-officers who had fiefdoms with which to draw tithes of men from. B Co. had also left their last planet in such high esteem that they took on a large body of local recruits to train and reinforce their ranks further with. B Co. took on so many new recruits that they were forced to split up their squads into newly reactivated companies. This dispersal, coupled with the non Cadian men who were recruited and joined the regiment after their last campaign, saw the end of the trademark Cadian Sharpshooter squads for the Regiment. No one complained however as the regiment was restored to 60% strength. It was about that time that the 551st was deployed to a new world, which they are currently engaged on. The planet is heavily regimented by Orcs and so far the fighting has been fierce but fairly stalemated since planetfall.
