mine are the 7th company of the cadian 257th Regiment also known as the 'lucky sevens'. A small infantry detachment placed on the Planet of Tallarn. Unlike the famous geurilla fighting warriors, aka the Tallarn desert radiers my company are part of a city defense programme. The 7th company are posted on the outskirts of a very important city and are issued with mainly heavy weapon teams and comprising mostly of ifantry platoons. Although majoring in Infantry, the company also has a detachment of Rough Riders who act as counter-attackers.
My paint scheme is bold with a sunburst yellow colour for the flak armour and desert yellow for the uniform. The guns are black and boltgun metal and the skin is a mix of skin colours. Although lacking camouflage for the benefit of blending in with the vast open desert like the tallarn desert raiders, their point is to stand out and the brightness of the colors is set to cause fear against enemies engaging them. THis is performed well during a cavalry charge of about 100 rough riders.

mine are specialised in close combat. in the battle for milostone feilds in the 2nd war for monium (the 2nd chaos invasion) at dawn the 5th infantry climbed out of their trenches weapons blazing and bayonet's fixed! they assulted the enemy trenches and the traitors fell back. the 147th tank company came along and supported their advance. with ALPHA company and BRAVO company under half strength and pinned down by boltgun fire DELTA company layed down suppressive fire as the 2 boged down companies regrouped and they charged once again. the traitors tried a pointless defence of touboke hill. 1 whole platoon were annialated including 1 hellhound and 1 chimera transport. not a single heritic was left alive. the brave men of the 5th infantry had drove the chaos legions to milostone feilds and scored the killing blow. the 5th infantry regiment had droven the chaos invasion from monium. history aside, the paint job is: flak jackets, arms, legs, helmets and most of the gun--skull white skirt things(seriosly! what is with those things!), shoulder pads and grenades--goblin green eagle emblems, ammo packs, grenade pins and boot buckels--mithril silver boots and hand (they're wearing gloves)--chaos black face--bronzed flesh

This is the army im working on now-
82nd Specialist Battalion, Jaeger Primarus 13th Blitzkorps
Twelve years ago the 82nd Specialist Battalion was raised among six other battalions from the planet of Jaeger Primarus. These six thousand men had been sent to the Scholar Progenum for combat expertise training and education from a young age to the age of twenty at the founding of thier battalions. The unit of six specialist battalions was split up into seperate fighting forces of one thousand men and sent to aid Imperial Guard regiments through out the Imperium, as had all other troops from Jaeger Primarus done before.
The 82nd Specialist Battalion, "Crimson Skulls", was sent to see its first action along side the Catachan 41st Light Infantry, and the Tallarn 57th Rifles against Tyranids on Daxosine III. Casualties were moderate, but acceptable to the 82nd, but the Catachans and Tallarns suffered terrible loses. It was deemed by Lord Commander Salar that the remanents of the two other Guard regiments were to be folded in as veteran troops and fill the gaps in the ranks of the Crimson Skulls.
At first the blending of the troops caused significant problems; there were many sqaunders and fights between men from different worlds and resentment was felt. After the 82nd was deployed to take out key military targets during a local planetary government uprising on the moon of Pelgan, the men of the 82nd and the veteran Guardsmen mingled with each other in the midst of combat and gained a certain amount of respect for each others skills and values on the field of battle. The Catachans stealth tactics, the Tallarns hit and run, and escape and evade techniques were indespensible when conducting lighting raids on the heretical governments military radar and ground-to-orbit defense systems. The Crimson Skulls success was acredated to its amount of joint skills from the veterans of other units and the stalwart power of the original Crimson Skulls grenadiers.
Not long after, the 82nd Crimson Skulls joined forces with 2 regiments from Cadia, the 444th and the 325th. Both regiments were fresh recruits sent to perhaps learn some lessons by fighting along side the veterans of the Jaegerans 82nd. The threat was an outpost of Chaos Space Marines from the Iron Warriors chapter that held key mining resources for the local plantery bodies. The outpost was located on the moon Adventine, and was rather small, so the order was given for the Cadians to gain some combat experience. This was a serious blunder. The 325th was first to move in, large fields of land mines slowed infantry progress and stopped all tanks. This was opened the perfect firing opportunity for the Iron Warriors who had the terrain zeroed in with artillery barrages. Massive casualties were sustained in minutes. Some troops ran, others got disorriented and found themselves in the middle of a mine field, with heavy weapons fire all around them. Using stealth techniques and the fast attack capabilities of the 82nd, the Crimson Skulls grenadiers and Guardsmen stormed the outpost and squared off in a three week dual inside the outpost. Mostly small arms fire and intense close combat with Iron Warriors eventually ended as the outpost was surprisingly only garrisoned by thirty of the Adeptus Astartes Traitors. As a result of the battle the entirety of the 325th Cadian Rifles was annihilated in the first barrage; the 444th was reduced to a mere handful of recruits, which were in turn taken under the wing of the 82nd Jaeger Primarus Crimson Skulls.
Currently the 82nd is enroute the planet Dragaf to assist a regiment of Valhallans agaisnt a horde of Ork xenos. The Valhallans have been holding thier own as a resistance against the Orks, but have sustained severe casualties already. Lord Commander Salar has already made it clear that the survivors of the Valhallan 398th will be integrated with the Crimson Skulls. The veterans of the 82nd Specialist Battalion will continue to grow and become more skillful with each campaign it enters, destroying the foes of the almighty Emperor.
My models are mostly Catachan, with a lot of DeathKorps Grenadiers acting as the "originals" in the unit, and then I also have a box of cadians worth, and 2 valhallans at this point haha, rather meager, and then a couple Tallarn bout half a squads worth and a bunch of heavy weapons. I have my Deathkorps in as grenadiers, catachans as Infantry Platoons w/ Light Infantry doctrine and then I have a Hardened Vet squad were im gunna combine the catachans, tallarns and valhallans, and the cadians i use as Conscripts since in my unit fluff they really had no experience. My Grenadiers have black trench coats and red gore armor, and then my catachans are full body camo paint mostly Dark Angels green some brown, black pants, and Red gore bandanas to fit them in with the Crimson Skulls, and I havent gotten to painting any of my others yet, so I'm still working out the schemes... though my plan is to be normal to what the units usually are, and a small incorporation of black and red gore in there somewhere.

the planet (well it's more of a moon) that the monium 5th infantry "snow wolves" is a snowy ice world in the cadian sector called monia, the planet/moon closesed to the eye of terror. it's cadia's first line of defence. it was first colonised 20 years before the heros heresy and has withstood 2 chaos invasions. because of the stratigical importance of this moon, cadia suplies it with weapons, uniforms and equipment.
one thing i'm gonna do to give the planet/regiment more character is make my own characters like the ghost of lt.jokavitch. jokavitch rose through the ranks during the first chaos invasion. from private to liutenant in just two battles. in the second chaos invasion, he died of a boltgun shot on the stomoch at the battle of milostone feilds. when they looked at his service records they found he had risked his life to save colonel shaviakash (commander of the monium 5th id) from certain death, directed the best defence that shaviakash deemed "the bravest defence ever mounted my any other soldier in the history of monia's milita" and had saved 2 commisars from the flaming wreck of a chimera. they called him the best, bravest and most honorable soldier monia had ever seen. i still havent made him or created a statline yet.

My actual project, the 14. Elyira "Cougars" Mountainguard, comes from a world that is completly covered with mountains. There are only few cities, that are placed in the larger valleys. Down in the valley the agricultural facilities are placed, while the living quarters, industry complexes and all the other stuff is built up the mountains (the cities look like Minas Tirith from LotR movies). All my guardsmen will have their own name and all ranks from Sgt. upwards their own background story.
