Heh. I just know how to motivate my troopers to fight for "teh Emprah"! Sorry that I haven't posted any updates recently. I've not been able to get any painting done since finishing off the power lifter alcohol dump objective...

Are the older Chimeras wider?
Like the tanks, the humor is fitting.

I love the tanks How's that meshing/netting made? Are the older Chimeras wider? Like the tanks, the humor is fitting. Thanks prilladog and dedrier! Prilladog: The camo netting was made from gauze pads. I removed the paper part from inside the pad, then draped it at varying thicknesses on the model and painted it with slightly watered down white glue. After the glue dried, I painted the netting camo green, washed it with chestnut ink, and drybrushed with rotting flesh, IIRC. Dedrier: I do believe that the older Chimeras are slightly wider than the newer versions. The side sponsons are a bit beefier on the older type.

Incinerator is a brilliant idea for the Catachans! Nicely painted, as well.

WOW! Your whole army looks great! I like the conversions of your exterminators and the Incinerator would be a nice addition to the Codex (“He tells me to burn things” Nice ;D ) Your version of Creed & Co. also looks amazing. Did you use pigments for the dirt on your tanks or have I read over a detail? I humble ask for a better photo of the freehand, which is on the weapon shield of the Basilisk It looks quite nice, but the reflection conceals a lot. Great work! … where is the button with which I can subscribe this thread? -Magg

Great work! … where is the button with which I can subscribe this thread? -Magg Thanks, Cheminhaler and Magg! These are older pieces of mine, and the photos were taken many years ago (at least three). I'll have to see about getting a closer up photo of the bikini girl on the Basilisk's gun shield. Actually, her face is kind of funky looking, so perhaps it's best that the glare is hiding it... The mud effects were done by mixing snakebite leather with baking soda, and then liberally daubing it onto the tracks and along the skirt armor with an old brush. The finer splatter was done by loading an old toothbrush with snakebite leather, and then flicking the bristles at the model. I'm not totally pleased with the mud, and may be going back and adding sand to the dirty areas to make the mud chunkier. I do like the splatter though... The Exterminators were converted by using autocannons from the plastic heavy weapon teams. Unfortunately, the metal Exterminator was no longer available when I decided to add them to my army, and I wasn't too keen on the Forge World version. I have a third one in my force, but currently don't have any pictures of it.

CHINK! (*Cough* Racism *Cough*) Seriously I love Chestnut Ink! Best Ink ever <3 Yeah, it's too bad that it's no longer available. Ogryn flesh seems to be a good substitute, however I have yet to try it on camo netting...

Hi all. I've decided to re-name this thread because I have (long ago) moved past the point where it was devoted solely to Straken and the "Glory Boys". Here are some pictures of stuff that I've painted (old and new) for my Catachans. The tanks are still WIP, because I still need to make dozer blades for some of them, and do mud and camo netting effects for all. Also, I have included pictures of some of my hunting cannon conversions. I hope that you all enjoy! (The colors are a little dark in these photos, because the sun wasn't at the optimum position when I was shooting them.) First off here is my Executioner which I've christened "Sexecutioner" as a tribute the the band GWAR, whose song "Death Pod" features the lyric "plasma cannons spewing death on anything that dares protrude." Sexecutioner was a recurring character in GWAR's productions, so it seemed appropriate. Note the Rocket Girl conversion for the tank commander--I'm extremely proud of her. Next up are two of my standard LRBTs. The third tank for this squadron is still being painted. "Krak 'Sleeper'": "Beef Supreme": My Deathstrike, "Duke Nukem": Alpha platoon commander, Lt. Morizet; she was my original Rocket Girl/Escher heavy stubber conversion back in the day of trademark items. Now the heavy stubber counts as a bolter. Half of First squad, Alpha platoon: The remainder of First squad, Alpha platoon: Half of Second squad, Alpha platoon: Remainder of Second squad, Alpha platoon: I haven't had a chance to take pictures of the rest of Alpha platoon yet, nor of any of Beta platoon... Lord Commissar Bane: Harker and some of his cronies: And finally, my Catachan hunting cannons (autocannon counts as, loaders not pictured):

I like the female conversion of rocket girl makes a nice Vasquez from aliens ;D Thanks, jerbat! Yeah, she's one of my favorite conversions. I've got another Rocket Girl coming whom I'm going to slap a powerfist on so I can have a female powerfistin' platoon commander of powerfistiness. I just primed a stock Rocket Girl whom I'm going to use to round out another squad of missile launchers. She's one of my favorite minis, and I wish that GW would make more female Catachans... nice work trooper but the hunting cannons seem a bit big for guardsman even catachans! or..... is it just me? Thanks marbo! Yeah, the cannons are supposed to be big and hefty looking. The secret is that (in my fluff which I will someday get around to writing) they incorporate suspensors, powered by the lasgun power pack portion of the gun, which nullify much of the weight (a piece of equipment from back in the Rogue Trader days) which allow manly, beefcake Catachans to manhandle them around the battlefield. I've got another squad of them that I converted using plastic Reaper autocannons, but I've got to do a bit of green stuffing on them before they will be ready for primer.

I like it. The juvenile things scribbled on the tanks made me giggle a little. I agree, they are some of my favorite things about this army. The "hunting cannons" are cool conversions, except the middle guy. It looks too unwieldy to be lifted and shot like a regular gun. Maybe rest it on something, like a rock or tree branch.

Yeah, I have fun coming up with names and slogans for my tanks. I've got a list of them saved as a word document. As far as the hunting cannon being held and shot like a regular gun, it all comes back to my fluff about suspensors. Well, that and a little bit of good old Catachan beefcake. I did just notice that on the guy that is hefting the hunting cannon that the gun looks a bit warped. I knocked over the building that they were occupying in a recent game against Reds, and it looks like his weapon may have gotten bent in the fall. I'll have to look into carefully straightening it out...
