Three nice looking tanks you got there. I especially like the Banewolf, its got character! I like what you did to the lenses on the Baneblade, they look nice. Im not a fan of the machine shrine in the back, it needs something to tone down the white.

Are you talking about the white on the Machina Opus (or whatever the cogwheel skull thing is called), or do you mean the Rotting Flesh camo patch on the left side where the exhausts are? I'm contemplating giving all of my tanks and overall Devlan Mud wash... Anyway here are some shots of my painting station where the brutal slaughter magic happens, with some things that I am currently working on. "What insanity is this?": "Yerr...": Blurry shot of finished pieces to be featured in a proper shot soon:

Yes, I do mean the skully-thingee-ma-bob. I guess its just too bright for a battle hardened tank. I also don't like how the rivets are perfect. Add some chips and dents, they give the vehicle character!

I've got a full squad of ten already painted, and there are bits of several more in a Simple Green bath. I need to acquire just a couple more and I'll be able to field an Auxilia platoon of thirty of the brutes. I'll definitely have to consider washing the white part of the Machina Opus. I really wish that GW hadn't put that shrine on the back of the tank. Technically, though, the tank isn't battle hardened, since I have yet to use it in a game. I'm definitely going to be adding some more mud effects to it to dirty it up a bit.

I think the objective markers are the best... I can imagine an entire army fighting tooth and nail for booze, hookers, and porn... Well, that and your ability to paint metal, I'm totally jealous.

Trooper, you just gave me an eyegasm! YES!!! I think the objective markers are the best... I can imagine an entire army fighting tooth and nail for booze, hookers, and porn... Well, that and your ability to paint metal, I'm totally jealous. Thanks Aeon and FFE! Yeah, the objective markers may or may not have been were directly inspired by my love for the Ciaphas Cain novels, and the description of how Cain's aide, Jurgen, has an extreme fondness for porn, along with Cain's descriptions of how the troopers under his care tend to misbehave when on R&R... Combine that with lack of sleep, an overactive imagination, and access to lots of bits and the mayhem is inevitable. ;D So far, in the games in which they've been used, the objectives have resulted in mass carnage. In their inaugural game, the fight for the porn objective alone resulted in around fifty or so casualties... As far as painting metal, what metal bits my collection do you like the look of? If you can tell me a specific part, chances are pretty good that I can tell you how I painted it, and you can give it a try yourself.

I think my favorite was Harker, just about all of him, from the augmentics to the shotgun barrel, and especially the sword... I just an't seem to make mine turn out quite right...

I think my favorite was Harker, just about all of him, from the augmentics to the shotgun barrel, and especially the sword... I just an't seem to make mine turn out quite right... Ah, you mean Straken? Here's how I did the metal on his bionics: I base coated the bionic areas with Chaos Black. Then I applied Boltgun Metal. Once that dried, I washed the area twice with Badab Black wash. Once the wash dried, I went back in with a fine detail brush and highlighted the areas that were uppermost with Boltgun Metal, and then with Chainmail at the points where the most light hits areas of the model. The sword was painted similarly to the bionics. The blade was highlighted with pure Chainmail along the cutting edge, and then along the flat of the blade I applied thin strips of Chainmail to achieve the striated effect. It takes a little practice to do, but once you're comfortable with the technique it yields really nice results. For the shotgun, actually, all I did was base coat the entire weapon with Chaos Black, and then I applied plain old Boltgun Metal to the barrel and magazine tube. I don't think I did any washing of highlighting on it at all...

I always confuse those two... and I need to go play with metal effects again...

These figures are always really good. Do you think we could see a whole army shot please?

Don't ask me why, but I immediately thought Tona Criid and Caffran when I saw Rocket Girl and Loader. I've been reading a lot of Gaunt's Ghosts recently...
Still very good work.

I think its the nature of the Catachan bitz. Every squad will have one awkward looking trooper because of his muscles aren't bulging properly for the pose that he is in.

Yeah, sometimes I get lucky with posing the plastic Catachans, and sometimes I don't. I miss the old metal ones, and am sad that they are no longer available from GW's classic Guard section.

I like the use of the autocannon bits... that does look like a whole bundle of TNT...

The only thing I think could make them any more obviously TNT is a bunch of fuses sticking out and twisted together into one old-school cartoon fuse...

I had considered doing that, but instead I opted to use part of a frag grenade--the portion with the pull ring--as the fusing mechanism. They're visible as the little metal bit sticking out of the front of the drum... I may have to do something to emphasize them.

Yeah, I think it would be a bit over the top with fuses, and I do like the idea you have with the grenade bit. Still, maybe someday as a humor idea.
