Hmmm... To do a full demo charge squad I do need one more guy. Maybe I'll make one with a string fuse, and have the carrier lighting it with a cigar?

I do like that idea, it's so old war movieish that I think it'll be epic.

You could also do a trooper with an arm outstretched holding a detonator with his thumb about to press down on the button, perhaps with sunglasses and the whole 'cool guy with his back to the explosion' thing going on. Might be fun, could even be one of the non-charge carrying guardsmen?

You fooled me at first glance. I thought it was actually bronze. It looks great! Will you take us through the process of painting? What paints did you use?

Thaks Dedrier and FFE! It was actually amazingly simple to paint, and here's how I did it: Prime black Apply two coats of Dwarf Bronze to get even coverage Wash twice with two really heavy coats of Thraka Green Wash once with a fairly heavy coat of Badab Black All applications of paint and washes was done with a base coat brush.

I guess the simplest methods still work the best, I still say it looks amazing.

Thanks, FFE! The only fiddly bits of the process were getting the bronze base coat to go down evenly on the ruffled feathery part of the cloak, and washing the area between the backs of the lower legs. The washes ran straight off of the area, so it has the pure bronze look to it. I may go back and revisit that area, and leave the model laying on its front so the washes will pool and not run off...

Yeah, I see that part now, but I honestly didn't even notice until you said something, so there's that. You'll have to show how laying him down works out.

I've said it elsewhere, but I'll say it again - I'm really impressed with the weathering effect you've acheived here Trooper!
As an aside, when I first saw the pictures I thought "Wow, Trooper has some really neat finely cut grass in his garden"... then I realised it was a board of some form...

Thanks, FFE and Lupus. Yeah, the "grass" that my pictures are taken on is actually a gaming mat. It's not the GW one, but is a generic mat that I bought years ago (back in '05 if memory serves). It's actually fairly beaten up--I had an overspray accident with my airbrush and Blood Red that wound up marking a good portion of the mat with red paint, however there is enough of an area of it that still is the proper color which allows me to use it for photos.

Okay, I just took some pictures of my Vanquisher, "Donkey Punch" and its Pask counts as commander, Captain Grox "One Eye". The tank was originally named "The Fist of God" and it performed dismally every time that I fielded it. Since being re-named, I have used the tank in two games, and it achieved ace status with five vehicle kills between them. I converted the turret many years ago, when Forge World first produced the Vanquisher turret. I didn't like the look of them, so using some lab supplies--a ten mL pipette--I fashioned my own extended barrel for the cannon. Initially I used to run the turret on a standard Leman Russ chasis, with sponsons, but quickly came to realize that was a waste, so I built a stripped down Russ hull mounting a lascannon and no sponsons. The camo netting was made using the method I mentioned earlier--gauze pads with PVA glue, camo green base coat, followed by a brown ink wash, and then a rotting flesh highlight. I may go back and add more mud to the hull, and it needs to have the toothbrush paint flick technique done to it to get splatter effects. Anyway, I hope that y'all enjoy!

And I thought it was turf, for some reason. Great work, as always. Great conversions on the demo charges.

No problems. I'm collecting catachans at the moment - only mine are gasmask marine heads, painted yellow, from a toxic desert world. One thing I've found with plastic catachans is that marauder arms tend to look better sometimes. e.g if you want to have a sgt with a laspistol and cc weapon, then just get some marauder arms, chop them off at the wrist, and then glue the laspistol hand in place. Just not a fan of the laspistol arm in that sticking out angle.

Yeah, the straight arm laspistol arm can be kind of annoying, however with some creative posing it has uses. Your converted Catachans sound awesome--I'd love to see some pictures of them!

Today was happy fun monthly 40K gaming day with my friends from Ineptus Astartes so I didn't get any painting done today. I have to figure out what to paint next. It looks like it's coming down to Ogryns, despite my trying to procrastinate on them. I may not be able to take pictures for a while because it's supposed to snow here tomorrow and the forecasters can't make up their minds if we're only going to get a dusting, or have several inches of snow.

Eeep! I've got about 16 of the bastards that need to be painted.Perhaps when the weather is nicer I'll take photos of the ones that I've already got finished... We didn't get the snow, but it's too cold to be out on my patio shooting photos today.

I'm going to have a platoon's worth of Ogryns herp de derp.
