Crap! I got to looking at the new codex last night, and Regimental Advisors can no longer be upgraded with carapace, which means my 'Chan Carapace MoO and Carapace Fleet Officer are no longer valid. We've also lost bodyguards... I wouldn't sweat it. It's not hard for the discerning gamer to see that your stormies have carapace armor and your Regimental Advisors have standard Cadia pattern flak armor, which is totally different from carapace armor. Anybody who would pitch a fit over the WYSISWYG conflict isn't the kind of person you'd have fun playing a game against anyway.

Since GW decided to give the finger to anybody who ever bothered to convert up Regimental Advisors with carapace, and two weapons, with the latest codex, I've decided to give them the finger right back and built myself a new 'Chan MoO out of bits I had laying around, complete with the requisite cigar, and he's accompanied by Searchy the Servoskull (which was an actual thing at Bolter & Chainsword before GW Legal sent them a cease and desist order). He points at what he wants to die, and Searchy transmits the coordinates to the arty batteries so they can hammer it flat.

Here's a second Hellgunner for your enjoyment: The head is a Cadian HWT goggle head (IIRC) + a Cadian CCS respirator. And just to show how stupidly proportioned the Turdbox is, here is the one I'm in the process of converting to be less derpy with the Hellgunner placed right against its hull: See how dumbassedly small the side hatches are? Ridiculous. Don't worry, though, the side panel isn't glued on, it's just dry-fit. I'm going to elongate the whole hull, completely replace those Ratling-sized hatches, and likely add height to the passenger compartment as well. I've also replaced the track links (with their derpy little design on them) with Chimera/Russ track links, which are substantially wider, so I will be having to craft a spacer to fill in the gap left in the housings for the tracks.

Nice stuff, quick question, what kit is the shoulder pads from? Or have you just hollowed out standard guard arms?

Thanks Jambo17! And you guessed correctly: I hollow out shoulder pads from standard Cadian troopers to make shoulder pads for the enlisted Stormies, while the officers get shoulder pads taken from tank accessories and Valkyrie door gunners.

gotta love razor saws...
--- edit ----
the above post was in relation to the previous page in which discussion turned to cutting the belt of a cadian torso.

Yeah, the hatches are ridiculous. It's like the kit was designed at normal scale in CAD, and then sections of it were reduced in size by like 25% or more. And my razor saw is going to come in very handy in cutting the Turdbox apart to "re-biggerate" it. I'm just hoping that I can make it look somewhat less derpy; plan is to make it a half-track.

Oh, and AshotNINJA , here's the upgrade I did of the Turdbox's stock track links to Chimera/Russ track links for the rear units. Chimera/Russ links look like they're about 10% wider for the rear tracks (which are larger than the front tracks both in length and width). I'm still pondering taking the front track units, sticking Chimera/Russ treads on them, and then attaching them on the sides of the rear tracks and making them "double wide.'

Have you noticed a large glowing green alien spore pod in your room, Trooper? There might be xenos activity going on. You might have to call.... the Xenobusters

Heh. Those are old glass fishing float lamps that my mom and grandmom brought back from Greece (I believe) after they had lived there for a couple of years when my mom was just out of college and traveling the world working for the U.S. Government.

when my mom was just out of college and traveling the world working for the U.S. Government. I am going to assume based on this information that your mother was a spy. If you try to deny it then I will assume that she has kept her spy identity from you to protect you, but one day assassins will turn up to attack her and you will get caught up in it all, and through a series of unlikely adventures your genetically carried spy talent will come to the fore and you will inherit her position as top superspy for the government.

Actually she was a secretary (or "administrative assistant" by today's politically correct terminology). For a spy agency. Where she met my dad...

No pics as of now, but I'm re-working "Donkey Punch" (my Counts-As Pask's Vanquisher ride). I've lopped off the ridiculously-long cannon barrel and replaced it with the plastic Vanqy cannon barrel that's in the new Russ kit, and I also busted off the manlet that had the not-so-great co-axial heavy stubber, and have replaced it with a "clean" mantlet. I'm also throwing together a set of sponsons that I'm hoping to magnetize so I can either run Donkey Punch bare, or slap some multi-meltas for heavy vehicle hunting, or plasma cannons for light vehicle/anti-heavy infantry work as needed.

Any update on your Wyvern? I am trying to figure out the best way to magnitize this beast, but running into problems. I feel like I am having to place way to many inside the cannon assemblies just to get it to work.
At this stage, I might just magnet inside the barrel and leave the on ammo box on. That way I could drop in the AC and just leave the mortar tip off or something. Any tips?

I haven't done any more work on the Hydra/Wyvern, aside from getting the remaining Hydra barrels sorted, yet. I got distracted by finishing my entry for the upcoming Golden Guardsman contest (voting goes live tomorrow in the painting and conversion sub-forum), messing with old Soviet rifles, and working on my Russ re-paints (got my Eradicator almost done last night). I'm still thinking about how to get the Wyvern's mortar barrels to attach in a way that they will not be knocked off by a casual touch. I've decided to dispense with magnetizing the remaining ammo boxes and canisters, as they seem to stick just fine by friction.

Loving your russes! Got to get me some of those. Don't know if you already said but was it bandages you used for the cam netting? I want to add an armoured element to my forces and would like an "on campaign" look to them.

I want to add an armoured element to my forces and would like an "on campaign" look to them. Yeah, a long, long time ago I had mentioned that I used gauze pads (with the inner paper layer removed) to make the camo netting. Since it was so long ago, here's a refresher on what I did: Unfold the gauze and remove the paper layer inside and then tear the gauze into shapes that please you, then use PVA glue to stick them down, and build up thickness as you desire with more layers of gauze and watered-down PVA (make sure to leave room for bottoms of turrets, gun barrels, etc. to clear surfaces when moving). Once dry, base coat with Camo Green (the old color, don't know what the new equivalent is called), wash with Devlan Mud, then dry brush with Rotting Flesh (or whatever the new equivalent it) followed by a really light dry brush of Screaming Skull.

Here's my new MoO, and my Gunnery Sergeant Harker conversion that caused such a furor last year. They're both at skin-wash stage right now.

I like your tanks! But I can't help to feel that the nettings is following the tanks to closely. There should be more air between them.
The colour is although lovely ;-)
