Thanks, Howscat!
Believe it or not, though, all the painting techniques I used to produce these pieces were just very basic and simple ones to be perfectly honest. Base coating, washes, and dry brushing did the bulk of the work, with only a little bit of fine detailing work to do things like lenses on the Rhino's cupola and the Space Marine helmets laying about. All of the rust effects on the trashed Rhino were achieved with the new Typhus Corrosion and Ryza Rust paints, and I must say that they are quite brilliant. In all it took me only about three days to get all of these pieces done.

Hopefully. Hopefully. Gotta figure out what to paint next... I think I might try tackling the "Well Endowed Eagle of Disapproval."

My Trygon Prime got a friend today in the form of a Mawloc: BIG SNAKEYS!!! I'm tempted to see if I could convert up a victim to have impaled on the Mawie's tongue (perhaps a Guardsman?) and being drawn into its mouth for om-nom-nommy-nomnomnom time?

Oh, and here are the Hive Guard I built over the weekend: Their weapons are completely interchangeable. The base is the same, and the barrels plug onto an extension, and the little ropey bits just kind of sit in place on the base. Neat, neat kit.

Thanks! It's the GW Battlescape terrain kit. Got it years ago and it's been sitting around with a coat of primer on it for a while. Was very easy to brush out, and Typhus Corrosion and Ryza Rust made doing the rust effects on it almost too easy.

Indeed they are; some of the greatest things I think GW has ever produced...

Realm of Battle tiles getting flocked with static grass: I need to get a few more packs of the Citadel Grass (with the Catachan on the front) and the Glade Grass (with the Kroot?) before I can finish the remaining tiles--to add patchiness--as well as the Bell Ow Wood pieces.

I just realized this thread is 53 pages long
53 pages of projects to make mine look inadequate.
I must never click this thread again.

Clickclickclickitty-click-click-click! I like to serve as an inspiration, and I'm always happy to answer any questions that members have about what I'm doing and how I've done it if someone wants to have a go at trying something that my stuff has inspired.

I stayed up all night painting and this happened: Temple of Skulls! I've had this piece sitting around with a primer coat for quite a while now, and decided to knock it out.

Your terrain looks amazing! I'd be well chuffed playing over it.

Thank you! I'm quite pleased with how things are turning out. I'm hoping to get the remaining tiles from the RoB set flocked, or at least the main color of static grass, today; I may have enough of the other colors left over to be able to spottily mix in patches, or I may just leave areas empty and come back and hit them with a secondary color of static grass later on.

Yeah I've played over the standard terrain rhino piece before, in GW Anytown The boards are looking really sumptuous, as is the temple of skulls.

I am glad you like how my stuff is turning out. I dumped off the extra static grass from the tile sections this morning, and wound up with a pile that was sufficient to re-fill a medium size Tupperware-type container. Hopefully I will get to some more static grassing this afternoon...

Thanks! It's just GW's static grass from the big terrain finishing kit for the large areas, and then static grass from the "Citadel Grass" (with the 'Chan on the package) and the "Glade Grass" (the one with the Kroot, IIRC?) for the differently colored patches. I just spread down some white glue cut with a bit of water, and then use a wire mesh flour sifter to shake/tap the grass over areas. If the static grass comes out of the big bag clumped up, I've found that rubbing it through a sifter into a container will break up the clumps, and then you can reload the sifter with the free-flowing fibers and tap them over the terrain.

Black and white looks so good on Tyranids. I painted all my epic hormagaunts in a sloppy version of this when I was a child and then I got stuck between wanting all the bugs to look like that and the obnoxious rainbow colours I'd done the termagaunts in.

Yeah, I'm quite pleased with how these are turning out. It's quite quick (once the washes have dried) and easy to do. I am going to need far more Argax Earthshade and Seraphim Sepia, though... Oh, and the red around their jaws? BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! A most awesome addition to the technical paint range.
