I love the colour scheme of your whole army, and the sentinels, particuarly in their open topped form. Thanks! The Sentinels are definitely a favorite part of my army, currently, and I think I captured their pilots free spirit with custom call signs, paintwork on their cockpit, and colored helmets, like fighter pilots. I love my wife. A friend of hers was selling his IG army, and it consists mostly of TANKS. So, she bought it for me, for my birthday! On the table currently: - 5 Leman Russ Main Battle tanks, 6 with Heavy Bolter sponsons, all with hull-mounted Las Cannons
- 1 Leman Russ Exterminator, with an open turret for my Pask model.
- Four 3rd edition Chimeras, three that are complete and one that will need to be built.
- Two 3rd edition Hell Hounds
- 2 Catachan Infantry Squads, with 2 meltas, and 2 Missile launchers
- One 3rd Edition metal Cadian Squad with Heavy Bolter
- One 3rd edition Command Squad, with plasma, two flamers, and a Catachan Lt that I will convert into my Chenkov
- 5 Unopened blisters of various tank commanders, stowage, and cupolas
- Some Vallhallan and Catachan Tank riders
- 3 Pask models.
- A TON of old school 3rd edition Tank bitz. (SCORE!)
- A new case to hold them in, one of the large shoulder cases with room for tanks and men, green of course.
Now that is a nice haul. I also have a trade going on for two more Russ tanks, and about 40 more men and bitz. I'll have some items for trade for sure. Got some painting to do now!

I have to be very careful about taking my wife to GW stores...
I often end up walking out of the store owning new toys that she insisted I get...

Tanks and bombs, I appreciate the birthday wishes! I'll post pics of my tanks soon enough. I've been spending some time recently, playing with my new toys (big grin, looks sheepish), doing mostly maintenance work: removing mold lines, adding hooks to tank turrets, revamping what unit goes where for storage and transportation. But I have also created some models. One of the models I had was a Mordian Commissar, with a powerfist and sword. Well, I already have one of those, with a converted arm. I needed to make it different enough so that it is not readily apparent that is the same model. I started with removing both the sword, and the power fist. I had to use a clippers to do that. So, where the sword was, I added a Bolt pistol, and where the power weapon was I added a power weapon instead. Everything got pinned; the right shoulder, the right hand, the left hand. I also used greenstuff to fill in gaps, smooth out the cloak where the power fist was, and made a power cable for the power weapon. So, here is Commissar Terrance!

Nice neat and effective conversion Pax - looking forward to seeing the painted result of your latest conversion powers...
I think I need more Commissars...
Not for my army, just for random coverty goodness.

Reason: Because children are stupid.
Justification for such an "extreme" statement: And unable to understand the minimal differences between weaponry that could make a large difference

I always picture chainswords and powerswords as under the catch-all of "power weapons". And if my model has a Power fist, and is not allowed one, it will count-as a powerweapon. Lets see.... Time to edit my list I deem. Painting my third sentinel, Jester
- Completing the conversion of my Leman Russ into a Demolisher, and perhaps more? (almost to the point of being
crossed out... dang!)
Locating a Mad Larkin model, and making a 10th Scout Sniper. I have located a source, and will have this done soon!
- Collecting and completing 13 more Rough Riders. This could be a year-long project.
- Painting the 14 new tanks, and the 70 new troops that I will be getting in trade and for my birthday on 2/28
- Actually entering a tournament. I have never done this, so that will be exciting!
Hmmm.... not bad really. Two projects done in about a month. Ah yes... lets add to it. - Convert a unit of Ogres from Warhammer Fantasy to Ogryns, using these tutorials
- Buy a Superheavy Tank of some kind. I'm thinking Shadowsword...
Speaking of completing projects... my Scout/Sniper Cadre has been completed. NICE!

I did some more work on my new Commissar tonight. I decided to add a belt to the coat, and I tried to make it look loose. I tried to make the whole thing out of greenstuff, but I soon realized that plasticard would be the way to go here. I used the thinnest plasti-card I had, cut into strips, then cut to fit the back of the coat. I added a belt buckle, some belt loops, and the other end of the belt, with notches cut out for the buckle.

I agree. I find the simplest conversions often yield the best results. Got a surprise in the mail today.... I had traded my Dwarf Army for more Guard. The person I traded with was a high school kid from PA, and so the model are for the most part beat up. I'll just post the list for now, pics of my new "raw" recruits will wait be forthcoming later. I got... - 2 Leman Russ Battle Tanks, with Heavy Bolter sponsons and hull Las Cannons. One has a dozer blade. One of the model has not been painted or primed, the other is not, and fully painted.
- 3 Cadian Autocannon Heavy Weapon Teams on Large bases
- 3 Catachan Autocannon Heavy Weapon Teams on cavalry bases. Obviously, they need to be moved.
- 2 Metal Commissars, the ones with the Bolt pistol extended, and a riding crop hidden behind his back. These will both be converted.
- 2 Praetorian Guardsmen., apparently from 1195 Games Day. I've already offered these in trade to another player.
- 1 Imperial Priest. Kinda weird model, really. Probably will be cannibalized for parts
- 31 Cadian Shock troops, in various stages of painting and assembly
- 8 Karskin Storm Troopers, 2 with grenade launchers, and 1 with a melta. < NICE! >
- 22 Catachans, also in various modes of painting and assembly.
All in all, not bad really. I am able to get more tanks, giving me a total of 9 Leman Russ tanks (8 regular, 1 Exterminator), round out BOTH of my platoons, so I can field 100 "just" foot troops, another Penal Legion giving me 4 Penal squads, More of my favorite heavy weapons (Auto Cannons!), and more commissars to control my mobs. Also, one of the Catachans has a beret, and wears flak armor. He'll be my new Sgt Bastonne. This puts me at roughly 6275 of painted and unpainted models.

I know it's an older pic, but this thread is new to me (because i'm too broke to play 40k and i'm never around), and I say, that Corporal Dekker is probably among one of them most badass looking guardsmen i've ever seen. well done

I decided to lay out my ENTIRE (new) army out on the table, to see what it is that I have. What I could see is impressive, and there are still units I want to buy/create, such as Rough Riders, Ogryns, and some Russ and Hell Hound variants yet. I also converted on my new Russ tanks into a Vanquisher, I'll post pics of that bad boy soon!

You sir, need a super heavy! I would LOVE to see a gorgon fitted out with a platoon of converted Death Korp mini's I am in the process of getting one, a Baneblade. If only the fellow would CONTACT ME BACK. It would be perfect for the Apoc battle I have coming up in the next two months. Anyway, I have some more to show off. I've added some more Commissars, a Major, and a updated Sgt Bastonne. In some models I acquired recently were two of the same commissars. I looked at these models, and decided that I could make each different with relative difficulty. The first one is Commissar Rikard, with a bolt pistol pointing out to shoot, and his power weapon behind his back ready to wield. The next is his twin brother, Commissar Karlsun[/color], pointing out the cowards to his brother, holding his bolt pistol behind his back and his power weapon stuck into the dirt. Here is Major Lucius Maxwell, my Commander Chenkov count-as. I probably won't field him until I have actual conscripts to order to their deaths.(Honestly those will most likely be the last models I make for this army.) This last fellow came to me in the same lot as the Commissars. I removed the bolt gun that he had in his hand, and promptly gave it to Commissar Karlsun. Since I like Sgt. Bastonne, here is my new count-as Sgt. August
